Do you think I should just leave the rear how it is?

West coast Bro/Street-Pre-runner style! 8) (NOT!)

Got pics of the steering box & track bar mounts?

Looking good! 8)

This is the only one I can find. I will take more.

gonna plate that outer frame rail area under those steering box bolts?
Oh and put some crush spacers in there too?

Looks good otherwise. 8)

I will plate that side but what are you talking about for crush spacers?

It's just a Dana 30 out of an XJ. Running 33's keeping my NP231 transfer case. I have a pair of fox coilovers up front and OME springs in the back with Bilstein shocks. As basic as I can make it. I just kind of used parts that others here have used.

Negative, it is a lot of work and just taking it one day at a time. I promise that you will know shortly after I know 8) I really do need to get it back on the road soon as I am borrowing a vehicle right now. I may get it going and then do some of the "frame" stiffining after it is drivable. I already have the metal in my garage.

Those of you that have done this...I see that you bolted the metal to the unibody to stiffin it. Can I weld it or is this a bad idea?

Oh, and do I need to do it to both sides of the uninbody frame rails or is one side sufficient.

Crush spacers or sleeves are little steel cylinders that you put into the unibody that strengthen the areas that you bolt to. That way you can't bend or crush the unibody walls when you torque everything down.

I welded my frame stiffeners to my unibody. We drilled holes in the stiffeners and rosette welded them in as well as stitch welding them on the edges. I did both sides of the frame rails and think that is the best way to go over doing just one side. But one is better than none I would think.

If I do both sides then I imagine I should run a plate across the bottom while I am at it. I will have to get more steel, I only have enough to do one side of each rail.

I did the bottom as well, all 3 sides.

Ummm, the holidays are making things pretty slow. The rear is out and being pieced together. Have the joints, arms and brake lines. The front is finished...errr almost finished. My dad and I need to put some more steel on the steering box mount, but other than that the front is looking pretty good and stout. I don't have any more pictures at the moment. I probably won't have anything new for you all until after New Years.

Can anyone show me their rear shock mounts. I already know how I am doing mine but honestly I don't like it. I need to get her on the road real quick though. My rear is set up kind of like a Jeepin By Al lift would be. I think it will be stronger than JBA's but still not how I really want it. Will just try it out and see how it works. I was able to reuse my rear sway bar this way. Waiting on drive shaft and SYE.

Looking good.

As far as your question about rear shock mounts, mine are all stock, which made things easy. I will eventually redo the axle mounts, but not sure when. I'd like to connect the shock mounts into the control arm mounts and then "box" them in somewhat so they are a solid unit with skids on the bottom. Someday...

Yeah, my rear is very stock. I just don't like the shock mounts so low and in the rocks path. In any case I am still very happy about my rig.

Yeah, mine have taken a beating. You should be happy, it looks sweet.
