How was it decided that 450# and 550# springs would be used with the coilovers? Just curious about the spring rates. Are they stiff enough/too stiff?

right now how i sit they run right on the road but when off road the rear is flexing(compression) before the the front and you really want it the other way...but, ounce i get a metal bumper made, winch and some other things it will be perfect...the poundage is set for more weight...if you think you will not have other stuff i would suggest 450 bottom and 475, maybe, top

well i just bought a ford 9" 31 spline axle...i prob will not get in in until the end of summer but my plans for it are simple...4:88 possibly 5:13...Detroit true trac or ox locker if i have the money...disk conversion...and i want to find a hp d44 out of a older bronco, and put a regular Detroit on that... i have some rims already and need to figure out what to do w/ the speedo gear... i put a SYI on that was for a tj and plug the hole... i wounder if it's possible to splice the wire off the rear axle plug it in to the t-case??? any thoughts??

I thought you were doing a rear 44 or was that front?

You are going to need the same signal converter setup that Troy is using for his D60. IIRC, Ted is using a 9" rear too, so same situation.

The sensor for the TJ case and 8.25 is different and uses different pickups and qty of wires. Check Troy and Teds build info for more details.

BTW, why are you bailing on the 8.25? You can now get 4.88's for it and do all the other upgrades including alloy axles. Did you blow it up?

Great choices for axles, though a HP44 from a mid '70's F100/F150 would match the width of the 9",stay away from the '78+ HP44's.You can not use a OX locker in a 9" either since it requires a special diff cover and a 9" does not use a diff cover(plus they don't make them for the 9"),a Detroit locker would be best for the 9" if you do not want to spend the $$ for a ARB.

Speed fix for using other axles then OEM and using a non-OEM t-case,granted it will cost about $300 but that speedo is kinda important.

for the speedo you can just buy a GPS, if you dont plan on ever selling your KJ, besides it'll more accurate.

If you like stalling the engine all the time you can do that.

Yeah, the KJ's computers kinda like having the speedo input for various reasons. ARB Seth had some issues w/ that on his but kinda learned to drive around it.....Though it did cause him to have a couple scary moments.

What springs are you running in your rear? I saw the spacers on pg. one but haven't noticed any update if you swapped.

sadly i'm still w/ the 6 inch JBA rear springs...when i get some extra money and i don't feel anything needing special attention i will buy them... they are really expensive at his price...i wish i knew what poundage and such to get because i could get them cheaper at my cost somewhere else...
