So my buddy runs a wreck towing company, and he gave me a call the other day  Seems they picked up a 94 high output 4.0L XJ!!! The only only thing screwed on it are the rockers (rusted to hell). So basically i'm asking for some help here: Just what exactly do i need off of the XJ to get started on my SFA parts collection?? Thanks guys!

About the only thing useable of the XJ is the front axle, you don't want the rear dana35.The 8.25 is way stronger than the XJ's rear D35.Since your using a d30 front then any XJ suspension components are useless to,with the D30 you have to use coilovers. You can't use the steering box either since you need a reverse steer box(from a BroncoII,Aerostar,or E-seris vans).Sorry to say but it looks like the front D30 is about it.

That XJ might have the 8.25 too. It only has the D35 if it is equipped w/ ABS otherwise it is the 8.25 like mine. It will only have the 27 spline rear axles though. Regardless of all that, the rear is leaf sprung so it wouldn't be very easy to use on a SFA KJ unless you wanted to try rear leafs or add all the brackets to it for coils or coil overs.

IT sounds like a good candidate for some 2x6 tube steel rocker replacements/rock rails and then a nice build instead of just grabbing the front D30 for an SFA swap. Cut those rusted rockers out and weld in some tubing. There are articles about it on NAXJA.

hmmm you do pose a good point.. and believe me i've thought about it. Only thing is that it cannot be licensed. So it would have to be trailored everywhere, and thats no fun

Would the 4.0L fit into the KJ?
