Sort of an update.... Progress is being made.... Subframes are being built and bracketry for steering box is being worked on.
I also have some figures for parts expenses, etc.....
It looks like I will have about $2700 into my ARB locked, 4.56 geared, disc braked, KJ D44 rear axle when all is said and done w/ it. Because it was a rare bird, the housing was expensive but in the end it should make life easier w/ the speedo pick up built into the diff housing and keep from having to run a converter and figure it all out.
The Nth suspension lift, etc was pricey too at about $3,000. Some of that is for components that are unique to the SFA KJ project and not normal on a Nth TJ lift.
I am hoping to get up there in the next few days for pics and such.
So JJ have you been able to go over and have a look at the progress & take any more pics
Yes. Unfortunately, they are on Quinns camera and not mine sice I forgot to take mine w/ me when I went up there last Thursday. I am hoping they will find the time to email them to me. I should have just taken the dang card w/ me and then mailed it back to them. Oh well.....
Anyhow, the lower portion of the subframes were welded in place, drilled and tapped for the bolts to hold the actual Nth subframe assy's that hold the control arms, belly skid, etc. Pretty much all of the old mounts and such had been plasma cut off and some clean up of those was taking place (flap wheel style gringing discs suck and cover you w/ lint). The upper front coil-over mounts were done and Steve was working on the steering box/front trac bar mount when I left.
The biggest progress was that I finally got that dang front axle built, bearing hubs/rotors installed, and Warn locking hubs installed too. Only took 5 trips just to finish all of that. Next time I will make darn sure I have EVERY part in place before even starting. Oh, and the lower coil over mounts had been installed on the front axle too.
Looking good. Hopefully I will have some pics to share in the near future.
