well if you were to sell it I definatly think 22K is an amazing price

I don't mean to sound like a dck but I don't think he'll ever get $22K out of that thing. People aren't going to pay for all the work that was done to it. It's just the reality of selling a custom vehicle. Guys spend $30K on their buggys and sell them for $15K. I really think he could get $12K out of it depending on what the BB value is of the Jeep without all the upgrades.

JJ,
I'll trade you for my 04' and you can do it all over again

well, selling it for pure offroad use, i would say around 15-17k is a good price just because of whats done to it...remember, once you modify it, something will go wrong down the road that cost more to fix :?

I think since we drive liberty's the chances are we're going to have to drive them forever, sell them to someone in a very small, particular audience, or sell them for near book value. With body damage / wear you may be below it...

I don't think any of us is modifying our jeep to make the resale go up. That said, if someone is offering you 22k and you want to get rid of it, then I think that it's likely that you've probably gotten the best offer you'll see. If you still like it and want to keep it though, don't take any offers (until they are truly obscene).

Then again what do I know. I once heard of a guy that bought a new kk and then line-x'ed the whole thing. That's a pretty expensive trail rig right there... :D

Don't do it.

Wonder what crazy nut job would do that to a new vehicle

For Sale??

So Would anyone pay $22K for my KJ?

If not, taking into consideration whats been done, whats a fair price?

(not saying it Is for sale, but I have been asked.......)

I wouldn't, not because I already have a KJ, but because for 22 K I'd rather build something else. I only built mine because I already had it, and didn't want to take a hit on selling it and then another hit to buy and build something else. If you are really looking to get rid of the jeep JJ, take the offer, it is a good price. I think the lowest I'd sell your jeep for is 16-17K.

Would the replacement jeep, I assume you'd replace it or build one you already have up more to replace it, make you as happy or would you enjoy it as much as the KJ?

JJ.... if you need the money and can get 22k out of it, well i'd probably sell it and call it a huge learning experience. You could probably build a second SFA for less time and money now that you have the experience and know how...

Or you could just keep it as it is and continue to have fun till the motor blows then drop a 4.7 or a 4bt cummins in to it and continue the SFA saga

ftr, I was offered a trade for something that was probably worth more than $22k but we agreed the vehicles were about equal in value.

bottom line is after much thought, I'm not trading. I figured for S's & G's, I'd ask to see the reaction and see what others thought.

I seem to recall you mentioning something about this last time we chatted. Now that I see you actually posted looking for opinions from the local masses, man if that were my KJ, and I was offered 22K (cash, not trade), I'd sell it in a heartbeat. Then I'd build a JK. Yes, JK - not KJ. As in something different this time around.

But as JJ has said before, anyone can build a killer JK from a catalog. Not everyone can build a KJ like that. This coming from a guy with what I think is a pretty nice JK LOL!

Edit; I understand what you're saying in JJ's case - sure one with a KJ can do a SFA, but one with a JK can do a Hemi swap! I guess it all comes down to what you prefer and how long that lasts until you become bored.

On the other hand, our KJ's are all basically the same. The same 2" frankenlift or equivalent, the same skids, the same limited slips or lunchbox lockers - all out of basically the same online catalogs.

I wouldn't sell it, keep it forever. Still very few around and I know you'll never see ten just like it at the Mall!

all these years, wheeling trips and miles later.....guess an update is in order.

added new tires....
Only several miles on them (33x12.5x15 GY Wrangler Dura Tracs) but noticeably quieter and smoother compared to the worn out Maxxis Bighorns that were on there. Went for the 15's so future replacements will be cheaper. Even with buying some new 15" rims the total was only the cost of one rim more than the price of 4 16" tires alone.

looking forward to some wheeling to see how they handle the terrain out here.

guess i don't have pics to post but we also changed out the steering for a slightly better setup consisting of modified/sleeved WJ parts w/ new TRE's, etc. and my leaky Bilsteins were replaced w/ another set w/out the reservoir on them this time. Feels much better now.

also played the won't pass smog game for a while, kept getting O2 sensor heater and evap leak codes which I could get rid of but then the sensors decided to not start working after. Decided it was time for some harness extensions and new sensors, that fixed it up right and it is working great again. Found the evap leak on one of the hoses along frame rail just about under the driver seat area.

now to get ready for some more wheeling!
