I have those AR Mojaves now...
They took an booty whuppin on the Con but are still true. Get some rings to keep the Teflon in good shape if you go with them.

Oh man did I see some cool stuff over at all j products. There was a couple of neat rear housings there. And it was all factory stuff. lets see if anyone can guess what they are. Now quinn, seth and maybe JJ are out of this game. Go ahead and start the guessing.

Most likely from a Izuzu Rodeo or such,I know they have D44's in them and I think they run a tone ring.

Is the tone ring adapable for use with the KJ? They are 6 lug right? Of course if you run both axles or an older full size Jeep waggy for the front some of them had 6 lugs didnt they as well mmmmm interesting

well, since I own one I will spill the beans.....

South American built KJ's had a Dana 44 in them. I am not sure but I think it may have only been the 02's based on some info I figured out and they are drum brake rears. The nice thing is they have a tone ring and provision for the pickup so the speedo will work. That is why my other diff is for sale and now I have to build up a new diff. :?

I am hoping to get up to the shop this week so I will snap some pics and post them. :)

The saga continues..... well, More problems with something I bought from somebody else. I hate it when you try to save money only to end up with more problems or don't ask enough questions before laying down your money. The moral of this is to make darn sure you know what you are getting and know for sure that it will work on your project. The bitchin' rotors that I got w/ my front D30 never had the centers turned to work w/ the hubs (and YES I thought I did ask enough questions before buying them and thought I was told they were ready to go) so I made another wasted trip to BB to work on my front diff only to find that out and now need to send them out to have them machined to work....more money.....

Anyhow, I did get to see the new D44 rear, that is the KJ D44 from South America that came in So-American KJ's. Pics:
Here is where the factory speedo pickup will mount up.

A pair of them...both already spoken for....
Image
This shows where the KJ upper rear wishbone bolts up just like on the 8.25 KJ rear.

Both of these diffs also have limited slips but I will be installing an ARB in it.

Did you have to order out of country or could they possibly be still available for serviceing.? That is just way too cool a find not to mention it cuts down on some fabricating time.

You are telling me... I have to get bearing caps for my Dana 44 custom fit (lots of Micrometer work) because the idiot I bought mine to took them out, and I didn't think to look for or ask about them...

Oh well the guy putting in my ARB and gears has a bunch of them, and is great with a micrometer... Just cost me extra dough.

Are these South American d44's going to be hard to find in say, about a year, or can you get them from the US factory? How on earth did you find it and how did it get to the states?

From what I understand, they can't easily be imported into the States and there is no known conection for getting them. There is a Dana plant in So. America and a Jeep plant and I guess they make D44's so that is what They use. I was also told that later versions in use now still have the D44 but they are disc brake equipped. These came in attached to some import KJ's that were here for testing by Jeep and the axles survived going to the crusher. There are only 3 in the States right now and one was already installed into an XJ w/ leaf springs.
