Good deal on some JK Rubi axles.

RUUUUN! They're darn hard to do anything with because they run a Japanese bearing that we or anyone else can't seem to source.
The lockers break... a lot. We have a huge waiting list for new 32 Spline D44's when they launch. Assuming we can source that damned bearing.

it might be also that the DANA corp went out of buisness...well at least bankrupt..

Last I heard they just emerged from bankruptcy,at least acording to there web site.

On a side note the TJ D44's where nothing special either, the front was a LP design using D30 knuckles-out,basically the same strength as a HP D30.

From what I understand on the JK's, there was some strengthening to the tubes? I talked with a guy at Moab 4x4 Outpost and he said the JK axles were significantly stronger than the TJ's. Of course this is all moot if the bearings that Seth is talking about are no good.

Yes, there were several improvements to the JK axles. Both front and rear are high pinion, stronger axle tubes, wider by a few inches, IIRC- larger bearings (lame if you can't replace them though), beefier case design, etc...... Dana wanted to call them D45's but Jeep said they wanted them to remain D44's since so many people attribute D44 w/ "Strong" when it comes to Jeep axles.

Big weak point I keep reading about is the factory welds on the brackets are lame and lots of folks have broken brackets off the axle tubes. :? no problem if customizing the mounts for a SAS though.

They are much improved, 32 splines vs the old 30... bigger tubes and some other stuff.
The Track Bar Brackets keep breaking on bigger lifts. OME's don't have that problem, but we make a big ole bracket to replace the stock one.
Biggest issue is you can't change the locker => you can't change the splines. Most guys are running 37's on JK's now... and a D44 with 32 splines isn't gonna take that too well. Especially with El Cheapo imported knock off lockers in there. We're working on it... be patient.
We get that fixed, MOPAR sells the JK D44 Housing for not a lot of cash... be a really good option for just about anyting running coils.

so with jk axles do you think there would be enough room to run full coils and shocks on the front of the kj?

I am not sure that this is all that good of a deal. I just picked up two JK axles from my dealer today for $2769.08 and that includes the governors cut. I plan on putting them under my '85 Mighty Max pickup and running 31" tires. I am sure they can take that much abuse.
