hey guys and gals (gotta be politically correct) if you had 8 grand to do a solid axle swap what parts would you use ad or modify the part list if i leave something out add it and the approx price lets see what great mnds can come up with. rules are you have to clear 265 75 17 tires and support the front end with an arb bumper and winch.

suspension: fabtech dirt logic coil overs 600.0
dana 44 front: junk yard find 500.00
axle rebuild : gears shats locker 1200.00
rubicon express track arms 400.00
skid plates 800.00 (price of 1/8" sheet of steel)

what steering box t case and drve shafts should be use im thinking an atlas t case but not quite sure, if we hit the money this may be a project build when i get home in july. gotta love tax free pay lol.

The RE arms are about $1200 for the full set.

'90-'91 Ford "F" series steering box(or BroncoII) is the one to use.

The RockTrac t-case(from a Rubicon,4:1 low) is about $1700 new,Atlas 4.3:1 t-case is about $2500.

You need a custom made belly pan to mount the long arms,1/8" won't cut it,you need at least 1.4".

I'm not sure what axles you are looking to run, or what you are sourcing your front from. Your front D44 could be sourced from a FSJ for about $100-$150 most places. Heck, for the cost of fabrications time & metal, you could swap a matching set of anything in. It is not unusual to get matching set of FSJ axles for $250. Just a thought. Also, a HP D30 is capable of supporting a 32"-ish tire just fine. You might look in to one of those.

Dana 44 cromo shafts and hardened ujoints, detroit.
Summit Machine joints and aluminum links.
Driveshafts from any custom builder using spicer parts.
Fox coilovers (Best value imho)
Atlas 4spd or Stax 3spd case
Custom link mounts and skid plates.
Doing the work myself, should be close on the $8k

As long as we are dreaming, I would put a tru-hi 9" in the back too. Add custom links and mounts there too :D

well i wasnt thinking on the front just do like a three link set up have two control arms by the shock mounts and then have a third next to the pumpkin but having all to angle up to add additonal ground clearance, and the front would be from a pull a part style junk yard and i though bout a hp d30 but if i can mount a 44 up front why not, it would be nice if i could matching set but that is two sets or gears and two lockers, and re welding both for coil perches, although changing out the rear control arms wiht the re is a good add on too.

You would want long arms F and R,otherwise very funny handling will result(and very unsafe). You also might want to do a 5 link F/R to be street friendly, safier also, but more $$$$.

well here is the most accurate price list i have at this time from the parts research ive done, it puts me over my 8000 limit but i dont think 8 grand would be a "budget" kit all these prices are for new parts.
atlas 2 transfer case 1895
dana 44 axle built 2295
RE front ca 860 (Wrangler long arm kit)
rock crawler coilover 1800
brake components 400
steering box 300
various parts :
brackets tie rods 925

still need new axle front and rear and the labor of course

Good luck trying to get a new Atlas t-case for $1895,better add about $300-$400 at least to that for shifters, yokes, and the 32 spline front(all optional).
