If someone is thinking going SFA with stock width axles, if starting to stock pile parts, and near Colorado, there is a guy selling a Ford 8.8 with MORE TJ bracket kit, Powertrax Lockright, and 4:88 gears. Ford 8.8 are awesome upgrades from even TJ Wrangler D44's, have 31 spline axles, same 5x4.5" bolt pattern, and Disc brakes. The 8.8 even has the speedo sensor in the housing, so I don't know for sure, but could be adapted to work in the KJ. Complete 8.8's are going for around $350 around here, MORE TJ bracket kit is $300, the Powertrax Lockright is around $330 brand new from SummitRacing, and depending what brand gears, those are atleast $150. That's $1130. He is selling it for $700. http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=133953 |

Which Ford 8.8 has the tone ring? Maybe a carrier adapted from a later model explorer into a solid 8.8? |

Maybe a carrier adapted from a later model explorer into a solid 8.8? This is a solid rear ford 8.8 out of a ford explorer. I set one of these up some time ago for an XJ, and it has a speedo sensor on the top of the housing, and when you remove it, you can see the tone ring inside on the carrier. Maybe I don't understand the question? |

Hmm. had an '01 and I never knew about that! Not that I really cared...didn't have it long I assumed the carrier was stolen from an '02+ IRS Explorer and put in the 95-01 housing, but thinking back I guess that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. |
