afaik,

two have used Rubicon cases. (allyrand and me)
one used a Tera-low modified TJ case, iirc (Seth)

Not sure what Marlin from UT used but think it might have been a TJ case also.

Troy and Ted are using Atlas cases.

OHV KJ used his stock one and I will be too, unless I find a screaming deal on a nice used one.

Dana 300 woud have to be flipped, IIRC, adding more cost.

Anyone thought of a Bronco D20? Small, cast-iron, no chain, and with some simple mods they are very strong.

If your not retaining the 8.25 rear diff(or find one of those fancy KJ D44 rears,or modify a D44 rear) you will need to use a different t-case that has the speedo port in the t-case,which none of the KJ's OEM t-cases do.

Just to throw a wrench in your planes I see you have the 45RFE trans and you could have one of 3 different length output shafts and this is a major factor in t-case choices.Since I didn't want to rip my t-case off for the measurement I ordered my AtlasII t-case for the shortest shaft and if I have any of the longer ones I will have to get spacers from Advance Adapters to get the correct length of spline engagement.Oh and if you get the AtlasII you will need to order it with the universal cable shifters since they do not make any shifters for a KJ,I'll be posting pics of how I'll be mounting my twin stick shifters for my AtlasII.

But if your going to do a SFA why not install a beefier t-case anyways? You'll be much happier with 4:1+ low range anyways. If I had the extra money I really wanted the 4-speed Atlas but I settled for the 4.3:1 AtlasII.

Yeah and it's not real good for your trans or engine since that speedo controls more then just the gauge in front of you, plus it is illegal and your committing fruad if you ever sell your KJ since the speedo is not showing the correct mileage.

Yes but your trans and engine will still not like you very much without that speedo signal. You'd be able to pick up some HP and MPG's with a working speedo, not to mention keeping it from stalling on you in panic stops or extreme angles.

If I don't find a crazy deal on a t case then I'm going with the 4:1 Terra Low Kit as well, eventually anyway. Not right away.

There not cheap and I believe to install one on a KJ's t-case is a little more involved,I believe the inside of the case needs to be ground down for clearance.ARBSeth would now what was involved and cost.

I never said it was easy or cheap, but they work.

Yes they do work but are they really worth it?

Personally I'd avoid super low gearing with a chain drive case.Just my 2 cents.

It worked fine and I beat the Shizzle out of it.
The only thing you need to do is put a TJ shift fork into it instead of the KJ one... some intereference issues there... but other than that, no worries.

And man, 4:1 with 4:56's and 35's was about perfect for crawling with that 3.7... and the 2 Low was a nice option, too. If you want low gears, it works just great for the cash and amount of work.
