Just curious why no one has gone full width or seems to be considering it. Is there an issue with installing 1 ton gear under these that I am overlooking? (other than the price) I know some clearance is lost just form having a D60 carrier... but what are the other downsides?

I'm going full widths,as is USAFCOP and RockLizard.I'm gaining more clearance with my D60 then the 8.25 gives if running the same tires.

I'm using a mid '70's HP44 front(67" WMS to WMS) and a Currie RockJock60 in back(65" WMS to WMS).
USAFCOP is also using a mid '70's HP44(67" WMS to WMS) and a Ford 9" in the rear(65" WMS to WMS).
RockLizard will be using a '79 3/4ton HP44(69" WMS to WMS) and a matching '79 rear D60 with 14bolt outers on it(67" WMS to WMS).

Why no 1-ton gear up front? (not questioning your choices, I honestly don't know )

Cost, try finding the good front D60's for less then $1500 is crappy shape. The HP44 up front is way overkill for a KJ since I will be running alloy inner/outer shafts, plus I got a good deal on it.I will be running 1 ton every where else,F/R driveshafts will be 1/4" walled/1350 u-jointed and my rear diff is rated at a 1ton leval.
