If you really want to go all out why not use an Atomic Axle from Overkill Engineering?:twisted:

The Warthog ("It's a Puma!" (sorry, RvB joke)) has 4 wheel independent suspension. ;)

Hey just to throw this in here.........Why cant we pull the IFS out of a late model Cheby pu and fab it onto the KJ? It seems the only real problem with going higher to run those scacred 33"s is the front aluminum diff....Why cant we make one out of a different IFS system work? One that the axle shafts arent too short or end up in what ever binding that ours end up in with the current set up. I was just thinking about a thread that someone posted about lowering their front diff to keep the CV angles down....Well if you could do that and then fab a late model diff that is not aluminium in there you could then just use longer springs and still have a higher lift....Just a thought here....seems like going that way would be less work....and less money
lower the front diff to keep cv angles down
build brackets that bolt a cheby unit in place, cast iron diff.....
use longer springs or just add a 2" puc lift with the 3" spring lift some already have....that will give 5" suspension lift in front
Still keep qualities of IFS.....

Can someone tell me why this looks good on paper but not in reality.....

That sounds like a nice idea... it might work... but the Chevy IFS diff is also aluminum, not iron.

The chev IFS is something I have been looking into (not a lot lately though). I think it could happen, I think that it could be fabbed in. The problem is going to be how to do the half shafts.

But anyways, yes it is aluminum... but it is engineered way way tougher than the jeep counterpart. People have been running 33s and bigger against the chev ifs diffs for years now without too much trouble (throttle meisters not included :-). It would be fine in that respect.

If we could run 33's most of us would be happy. Untill one guy gets 35's of course.

Any updates yet? Honestly I did not have time to rear the whole thread so someone may have already said this, but...why not have D44s front and rear? That is a good solid axle to run up to 35" or maybe bigger I really don't know...just a thought...I would pay for a D44 front and rear KJ kit

Plans are done... parts are being aquired. My credit card is begging for mercy...the KJ keeps staring at me, asking "What are you about to do with that torch, man? Don't you love me anymore????"

Don't look for anything really ground shaking for about a month. Other things in the works for both parties. We've decided to go big, 3/4 ton axles and 35" tires, but we will do drawings for brackets for the HP D30 that most of you would go with. As for a D44 in the Rear, the 8.25 is basically the same axle. No point in doing a swap like that. D44 front w/ Chevy Brakes & D66 FF Rear is the current plan but we'll keep things fairly vanilla so the design could be incorporated into other housings.

I'll be in touch...

Seth, what are you working on right now? Any idea on a date for the finished prototype?

I just read in a different thread that the WK and XK have D44 centers. What is keeping us from using one of these diffs with a diff drop kit to keep the CV angles down?

Patience people!

We have drawings... a large pile of parts and no time to do it right now. With my job, travel schedule and the fact that my buddy Mike is in the same boat, it may be awhile. Like most of you, we have day jobs ;)

Fact is, it's going to take a week to get everything cut out and put back together. I don't have half that time right now and may not for the forseeable future. Jeep Safari is right around the corner, and I have a full plate of travel lined up before and after with it being show season...

I'll post up something when we get started.
