You chain-yankin', Inc?

These are a very common wrangler/XJ swap option. Driver's drop front D44 & rear D44 with a wms-wms of about 57". Factory ratios will suck ( 2.72 or 3.31 at best) but all of the D44 goodies work on them. This would be a great axle set for a swap.

ok one last one now, I also found a matching set of D44's from a 1979 Scout 2 Traveler with a 345 and auto. Do you know if that front axle is good?

You will be fine. Plenty o' Scouts with V8s and stock axles running 35s+, and Scouts weigh quite a bit more than your average CJ

ya but I dont want to do all of the work to fix the caster, I think I found a Waggy axle that is a NT so it is IIRC 58" WMS to WMS and has flat top steering knuckles.
