i know a few people that run them... both have YJ's.. and they love them. cost is way down from ARB's and they are still selectable lockers that will work everytime you want them to.. plus are full carrier replacements. i have heard of some cases of them 'popping out' but both the guys i know who run them have never had that happen.

what i know about them?... selectable locker engaged by pulling/locking a cable ran from the front/rear diff... which i believe uses a fork type mechanism to engage the locker.. OX gives you armored diff guards with the correct hole for the cable to enter into the diff.

i would say.. for a budget build but want selectables.. GREAT... if your on a REAL budget build.. aussies front and rear with selectable hubs in front... i've seen that combination work wonders.

How does it disengage? I knew they were cable actuated, but I don't know how they unlock.

I've heard good things about them and would like to get one or two for my CJ but Ill probably stick with my Detroit's, I would probably buy them over ARB's.

They are cable operated,it requires a special diff cover that the cable attaches to and has the shift fork built into the special cover that does come with the OX locker, the cable and shifter is separate purchase. The only problems I've heard about them is it takes some time to get it adjusted correctly engage/disengage and there seems to be issues with kinking cables if used in a front applications.Oh and it's rumored that OX is going under so parts and support may be non-existent soon.

I know it is cable operated, but do you pull it to engage then push it back in to release or is it like pulling 4wd down and pushing it back to 2wd?

Perfect, thank you Troy.

Doesn't that massive cable kind of stick out and lend itself to getting damaged? Does anyone know if that is a common issue?

pretty heavy duty cable, no worse than a brake line or the likes and would fare better than a brake line or what not should it catch a snag, should be pretty easy to channel it to protect the run with mostly the portion runnin across the diff to the cover being the only exposed section

It can but in a rear diff app it should not be a issue,it's a issue when using in the front, along with the cable getting kinked.

Yeah I was referring to front. Sounds like a good way to go for rear axles.

You can scrap the OX if you plan on using one on the rear of your KJ,they don't make for the 8.25 anyways, plus the cover is so massive it would hit the gas tank anyways.

I saw one in action this week and was curious is all. I will not be running one. Thought it might be good info for others looking after they swapped their axles out though.
