the Ford box is plenty stout for the job however I suspect teh stock pump might need some help. I find that the steering lacks enough umph when the tires get wedged in the rocks. I have contemplated adding ram assist but the money isn't available right now. I imagine the folks shooting for bigger tires are going to find the same problem.

Yep,
I already plan to upgrade the pump, but I will get it built and do that as an upgrade next year or the year after.

It will need to be custom made or a custom fabbed brackets to install a HD pump.

I'm running the Rubicon Express TJ long arms which is a 4 link radius arm front and a 4 link rear, will be also using trackbars F/R for a 5 link F/R.Arms are in pic below minus the trackbars which will be custom made.

As far as the pump I'd look at TJ/XJ pumps from a place like PSC or Redneck Ram,higher output pumps for hydro steering setups, also will have a port for hydro assist.

That all depends on you, namely, what you want and what you can handle to buy used, how much you do yourself, etc...
Mine will be much cheaper that TJKJ2002's, but maybe more that JJ/Wally's, but I not done yet, so who knows. I just know, mine has a lot of used/bargain deal parts from various 4x4 boards and such. Tires wheels arms, springs, bearings, hubs, steering box, and drivelines will be new, but the rest is about used or at least bought as is (Atlas and cable shifters are old, but never installed). I have about $8000 spent so far. I need hardware springs, drivelines, exhaust, and steel costs left to buy.

Thouroughly Read the entire SFA section you are in now......then read most of it again......then start saving up lots of $$ to throw at it.

axles would probably be a good place to start, would you want to replace both or just the front?
