How do you choose your control arms. What factors do you consider. Can you just use a long arm kit designed for an XJ?

Most are using TJ or TJ Unlimited Long arms if doing both front and rear.

why those arms? are they just the right length?

One reason is the nice fit, the other is that you could get XJ, but then you only get a front as the XJ is leaf sprung in the rear, with TJ or LJ arms you get front and rear arms.
