You shouldn't need to modify the coilovers or rear springs at all to get that amount of lift. You could mount the coilovers up into the engine bay to be able to use like a 12" or 14" travel coilover shock instead of a 10" like everyone else used, but I don't think thats worth the effort. For the rear I went with 12" travel Edelbrock shocks. They are like 19" collapsed and 32 extended IIRC. Just look at JJs and OHVs build threads to see how they mounted their coilovers on the axle and to the jeep to give you an idea where they need to go in order to fit and ride right. I'll get pics of mine for you ASAP.

ok thanks INC. Well the girl wanted to get around 8'' but after i told her, that troy could get below 8.5'' she said whatever haha. so i am looking at around 9 to 10''. So i want to use the 10'' Fox coilovers that i am getting her. Ok so most do either 10 or 12'' shocks in the rear then.

thanks inc

With as much flex as the 863 or 864 rear springs will give you, I'd go with the 12" shocks out back over 10".

I got mine directly from Edelbrock when they were having a huge bow out sale. They were regularly like $150 or $175 each but I got mine for $35 a piece with free delivery during the sale. Keep your eyes peeled for sales and deals going on. Find or look for a brand of shock that you like, go to their website and search for the size you are looking for, get the part number and search the web for deals. Other guys on here are running Bilstein IIRC.

How do you know what shocks will fit the KJ and you're rear axel? Like do you get 12" travel shocks for the 8.25 or whatever rear axel ur using, or for the KJ?

I believe the KJ uses universal eyelet widths for the shock mounts. When I chose my shocks I chose the universal mount and they are identical to my OME shocks I just took off. I have never seen an axle option when looking at shocks, so I'd assume go for universal mount locations.

Universal mount, as in, the shock mount eyelets are a "universal" size that should fit most vehicles.
