Well first off...this will most likely be a build with most progress happening over the winter months. I will update with progress.

I have chosen my next build. After much deliberation I decided to go with the KJ platform. It is compact, readily available to me for free and ...well mostly it is FREE and a SUPER easy platform for me to build off of.

It was really easy for me to decide upon this particular body because I had it ready to go to the scrap yard and now it will be my next build.

I measure off of a few 5.7 HEMI's and 3.7's I have around and the only main physical difference is that the 5.7 is 4" longer. With only 3.5" between the H2O pump on the 3.7 and the radiator fan...should be pretty straight forward as I will be repositioning a different radiator anyway (along with moving the front axle forward.

Here are a few pics (not the donor body but one identical to it). http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab36 ... CF1067.jpg http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab36 ... CF1065.jpg http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab36 ... CF1064.jpg

Right now I have the following parts-
Donor Body
Dana 60 rear with 4 links (4.88's, spooled, 35 spl. chromos)
Dana 60 front (pass drop...looking for good Dr. drop)
18" Coilovers (may just go with coils...still debating)
Lots of Misc other stuff and TONS of Liberty parts (read ~20 parts Libs)

Has anybody heard of a Hemi swap or any other V8 swap taking place? I also searched for the most radical Liberty I could find and have come up quite disappointed... I find it hard to believe that I am forging a trail here.

There are only a handful of sfa libertys and only one other I've heard of doing an engine swap. Can't wait to see the build. 8)

I would love to hit the lottery, throw in a cage, D60s, 37s+, and a Chevy LS motor swap on my KK but I know its a far stretch. I do with what I got.

This looks scary, guess the reason for being "totalled".
Image

That is not useable as all the front uni-frame needs to be replaced.

Well...that body is identical to the one I am using...other than it already has the aprons (inner fender structure) removed.

My plan is to cut the frame rails short and the entire front end will be tube structure with the hood, fenders and grille attached to the tube. Of course the front tube will be tied into the rear.

It will be a daily driver...I am sick of dedicated trail rigs and towing them everywhere. My current rig is a fullsize (Ramcharger) 'cuz I was sick of jeep builds and the crazy suspensions...I am REALLY anxious to build another 4 link for myself (although I enjoy the simplicity of leafs).

I believe that with the 5.7 it should get as good or better fuel mileage as the 3.7...I am planning to keep heat and air and have 2 sets of doors (winter full doors and summer 1/2 doors).

Dan

Well if you picked it up really cheap then theres your really cheap Hemi and computer with harness. Sell the rest off as parts and make your money back that way.
