Hi fellas. I did not know that my buddy posted my jeep online. Sorry it took me so long to find this site. I dont get much time online, nor am I good with a computer... I thought this thing on the desk was a tv with a typewriter in front of it. lol. Well yes I sprung my 03 kj over. I didtn have a reason to start the project other than something to do. I didnt have kids yet...but I will be happy to answer any questions I can for yas. To start, I have a 03 KJ, When I paid it off I installed a 3" spacer lift from rough country. I ran that for a year or so, I tryed to follow my buddies with there modified rigs but I got hung up all the time. So as the result of that I went big, and as a reminder I dont hate on coils or anything like that, I guess I just always liked leafs. I'll give a quick parts rundown. I used 2.5" procomp lift springs for a yj. I started off with a 30/35 rears with 355's. I now have an 8.8/30 with 410's. All my parts for my shackels, perches, etc were from dyi4x4.com , they have very nice parts I might add. It took alot of tryl by error. I plated everthing with 3/16th steel, and used 2x3x1/4 wall tubeing to make a new cross member to tie the rails together. I over built everything so it wouldnt fail with my son onboard. Once I had my frame work finished It took a few tries to set my shackel angles, but got it right in the end. I used a steering box from a 89 cherokee, the lines just so happen to be the same. Installing the box took some skill, I had to build my steering shaft out of a few different veh, I used the shaft from a 02 libby, 89 cherokee, and a bronco II, Finally got it too work with some help from a mig welder. The only way other than going full hydro , was to buy a high steer bracket online to make the steering work with my dana 30. Well I can go on forever so Ill end it for now. And be for I go , Yes the jeep isnt the best looking thing out there but I wasnt going for looks. It rides soft and drives like a caddie... im happy with the lil girl. Ok well thanks for all the comments . Im sure Ill be talking to yas more ing the future, now that Im a member. |
