I use a HP44 from a '75 F100 in the front,full width(67" WMS to WMS) and normal bearings so no TJ/JK junk here.I run a hybrid D60/9" rear axle.

JJ used a rear Dana 44 from a venezuelan KJ, but I think it is very hard to find one...

Actually the export D44 rears are a myth. The only 3 known rear KJ D44's are from the 3 KJ prototypes that ran the Rubicon trail back in '00-'01.

One is in JJ's SFA,one is in a CRD(still IFS),and if I remember the 3rd found it's way into a XJ.

If used in light rig the HP30 is okay, under my KJ it would bend pretty easy.

Most likely will use the 8.25 that's already under the KJ. If I do this swap, I won't be going above 33's.

Sweet, I'll keep that in mind.

Do you plan on retaining ABS(with ESP)?

If so your axle choices got real small and real expensive as now you have to source a JK front D30 or any direct bolt in JK front axle.

Probably not. I don't want to mess with that computer crap. My KJ will be paid off soon, so once it's paid off it will be my trail rig (but can be driven on the road). Most likely will have to buy a truck sometime down the road to trailer the KJ (if it's SFA).

Thanks for reminding me of the ABS/ESP. I forgot about that.

The export rear D44 aren´t a myth. I'm in Venezuela and all KJ came with OEM rear DANA 44. In Venezuela there is a Dana plant called DANAVEN, and they make most of the axle for jeeps. All the jeeps made in Venezuela (cj, yj, xj, kj, kk, etc) came with OEM rear Dana 44, there isn't any Chrysler 8.25 here. I'll upload some pictures of my 2005 KJ to show you it´s a Dana 44...

Inclusive, all XJ's made in Venezuela came with front high pinion Dana 44 (wms to wms: 60" and 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern) so it could be a nice axle to SFA our KJ's...
