Kav, Just curious. What is this conversion end up costing once everything is said and done and she's on the road again? Or rather since it's not done what are you planning on it costing?

$6 grand for a full (done correctly) SFA swap? That's how much it costs just for a 6" IFS lift. That seems pretty low. I've always been told an SFA swap was at minimum around 12-15k if not more.

When I priced out my SFA with my D44s i have here that already (lockers and new gears in them), I was still looking at 9k.

Mine were out of a lifted 76 ford. They have alot of work done to them already. Pretty much drop in.

That's still a good chunk of change but if it's only 6-9k to do a complete SFA swap that works I'm shocked we don't see more of these done.

Thats all very true -- It just gets really lonely when your Jeep starts looking Bare then reality sets in. :ALONE: Image/url]

After armor and everything I'll be closer to 9 but for suspension and drive train it should be close to 6. So far I've spent 1200 on shocks and axles.

Those done for that price are seen once then sold and never seen again or sold 2-3 more times then disappear forever.I have yet to see one done for less then $10k on the road without any further mods done(meaning more $$$ to fix it right) after 1-2 years, many don't make it a year.

Becuase they used cheaper materials and lack of knowledge lead to poor design

Cheap construction and weak parts/welds.

One was sold and bought 3 times before disappearing and it had to be completely rebuilt 3 times from major structural failure in the front end(front diff separated from the KJ).Subpar construction and materials done on the cheap ignoring that a KJ was not designed for a SFA.

Not saying you have to spend a lot of $$$ but it's not a cheap venture and should not be tried to be done cheaply.USAFCOP tried to do it slightly cheaper then my build(same basic setup) but ended up spending more to get it right.I have over 22,000 miles on my SFA swap and have traveled all over the country, besides a failed valve keeper in the engine the SFA swap is still perfect with zero signs of any failure.Trust me I check often and very closely.

school BS got in the way for a bit but i managed to do some more research and i think im going to go with a similar setup to an xj long arm because its been proven to work. even though id like to eliminate axle castor, i think the radius arms will work just fine. second, im still trying to source another D44. Third, i am about ready to start the steering setup since i have to pull the radiator for (hopefully warranty) replacement, the darn thing decided it was going to piss all over the driveway randomly after sitting for a month :banghead: im going to use a '90 bronco II steering box with an '91 f350 pitman arm, (both from rock auto). do i need to get the steering coupler assembly for the steering box? sorry for the noob question  also do you think i should reinforce the mounting point or just bolt it in an call it good?
thank you all for the help.
