I know I could take this to 4x4 or some other place, but I'll keep it local unless I need to go
another place. I know several of y'all will know the answer.

How do I disconnect the upper ball joint and is it a pain in the butt?
If it is already on the list somewhere, can someone
direct me to it.

(Is there a better way to do multi work searches without getting everything with just the first word
in your search??? Ex: search "ball joint" and get threads with beach 'ball' and bowling 'ball'.....)

Removing the entire Ball joint or just the stud from the knuckle? If just the knuckle, take the nut off and tap on it until it pops out. If its in there tight then you may want to rent a ball joint puller from the local auto parts store. A gear puller will also work. It should be easy to do with out one though since it was recently taken off for the installation of the Franky.

Thanks for the info Hood. That is what I was needing to know.
Should have been more detailed, but yes, just the stud from the knuckle (I think). I just want to be able to seperate them arm from the 'whatever' so I can slide the shock thingy up a hair in the clevis. (The left front end is slightly lower than the right so I want to see if I can even things up.) Now, do you believe me when I say I don't know anything about this stuff?!

So, from what you told me, seems like the next question would be, how, and how difficult will it be to put back together?? Last thing I need to do is disable my jeep with it stuck in my driveway.

well the only way i learned was by reading and doing. Yes, what i described above is what you need to do a clevis lift. You will need jack stands and a floor jack.

1. keep jack under lower a- arm while removing UBJ nut.
2. once removed, lower jack allowing LCA to drop.
3. Once at full droop the UBJ stud should pop out of knuckle. (hammer persuasion may be necessary)
4. Once out of knuckle be careful not to let knuckle pull on brake line.
5. perform clevis lift.
6. place jack under LCA and jack up until weight of vehicle is on LCA then move knuckle up to stud and reassemble.
