Post subject:  South Looziana Project Day - 9/5/09 IT'S ON LIKE DONKEY KONG

Hello LA KJ'ers,

Bub (KJ 119) and I kinda sorta discussed having a vehicle project day soon - change some tranny fluid, maybe diffs and transfer case as well. I personally need to change my tranny fluid and filters, and I was thinking about installing a PML pan and a Transgo shift kit while I'm in there.

Bub may (or may not) have offered his homestead as a meeting place for the work. I was thinking Saturday, September 5th. (That is the Sat before Labor Day)

Any takers?

Ding ding ding, I'm all for that. I've been wanting to see that monster you built ever since I saw the pics. Plus a lift would help a lot for those wanting to do undercarriage work.

How does Saturday September 5th sound?

What kind of stuff would people want to work on?

I'm in.Wouldn't mind a lil trip to Denham Springs.
5th sounds good unless it falls on the weekend I'll be wiring this guys camp in Port Sulfer.
Waiting for the go ahead(need the side work).

Bout ran out of thing to do unless I can talk my wife into letting me get the Transgo.LW did it come with a gasket?
And how much were filters?
If I don't have anything to do,I'll just help out.And drink beer.

Oh man, he's got a 42 Dodge (SUV??) with a Cummins 4BT in it. It looks SWEET.

I don't think the Transgo comes with a gasket, but some RTV can go a long way. Unfortunately, it would mean dropping your pan and pulling the valve body. Again. Maybe we could catch your fluid in a clean catch pan for re-fill?

I'm going to have to price NAPA for the filters. Everywhere else I've checked only has the spin-on filter, not the pancake. If I'm going to get messy, I'm going to replace both, know what I mean?

I PM'ed all the LA CRD'ers to get them to come to this thread. Kntrygurl let me know she's out though. That leaves Shaggy and Lib2.8.

Eurekaboy did a Transgo on his own. Link here: http://liberty.eurekaboy.com/transgo.htm
Seems straightforward, though I've never pulled a valve body before. He also installed the PML with spacers to preserve his Mopar skid plate.

mcinfantry,

Maybe we could address the window regulator in your CRD on the work day? The kit from Steiger is a superior replacement than the OEM part, and it's an easy install.

Labor day weekend is usually a camping weekend for me.
I will try to make it.I can leave from Watson, shoot straight up I55 to the Arcola exit,go east and
wa-la,sunny Mt. Hermon.I'll be half way there.
You guys don't wanna go camping after ay?

Boy is you crazy scheduling a WORK day on Labur Day weekend.
Should be ashamed of yourself.

Here I am guys. Been out of town for a while so been out of the loop.
I might be out of town that weekend but if not I'll be there. Better put me on the Maybe list. I need to buy and install a new fuel filter ( but I might get that done before the meeting ).

Some Dead Guy Ale is sounding good to me!

If we need to try doing in on the 29th instead, I'm game for that. 9/5/09 is also the first LSU football game - they're playing in Seattle against Washington, so it's not on till 9:30 pm here.

THAT DODGE IS SICK!! I would come by just to work on that!

Shag, changing the fuel filter is a snap, you can get one at NAPA or order one online. I've done it twice. If it's still the original it will take some elbow grease to get it off. Need some Powerservice in the silver bottle for the re-install.

If we need to change the date, let's do it - I'm going to have to order the Transgo kit beforehand anyway.

What's everyone wanting to do?

Actually, I'm thinking. . .

Bub/ Mcinfantry, have either of you installed your own lift? Shag, I know you had yours done - Light Line, right?

I'm wondering about the relative merit of installing the Frankenlift and leaving the trans work for another time - after it's easier to get under the Jeep, maybe? :o

Yes, Light Line of BR installed mine. Now, I would recommend doing it yourself especially if you get some help. Bub did his own so he might have some good advice.

Thanks for the tips on the fuel filter!

We can get a frankie on there.
If you're looking to Al's arms too than we would have to start EARLY!!!!
