Hey anyone near here and tell me a little bit about the area, Cost of a house? Wheeling? Cost of living? Area in General? I am looking for orders for when I get back from Kuwait and Gulfport is an option I am considering. Thanks |

Whereyat dea Willy. Gulfport is right round the corner from Nawlins,and a third of the way closer to Eglin than me. Check out the ride pics. Awesome fishing and seafood. Great friendly people. I'm assuming you're Navy, since that's where the Seabee and Amphibious OPs base is? Gulfport is an average, sleepy, Gulf Coast town, good food, good culture, below average school system. A decent 3 BR home with 1400+ sq ft living would run you about 150K most likely. Overall COL would be relatively low. Gulfport got hit hard in Katrina, so be sure to check 2005 and older properties very carefully for mold or other flood damage before buying. Also get your realtor to check for "Chinese Drywall" very carefully. A lot of rebuilding was done with drywall from China that emits chemical fumes and has sickened many a homeowner. |

Bub, I am over in Kuwait right now, and looking at my options. I did not pick anything this time around, trying to get another ship out of FL, but I don't think they are going to give me one. Yea I'm Navy, they want me to go to the Med Clinic there, but I don't want shore duty. Thanks for the info guys. |
