So I took the KJ into the shop to find out what was setting off my ESP, ABS and traction control dash board lights.

Right front wheel speed sensor has gone bad... bill would not have been to bad but then the starter went out while it was there  :dead:

My left front ball joint on the UCA was getting louder and had become a constant noise...

Interesting thing when the KJ was ready:
New free battery and Jeepin' By Al's latest Gen control arms installed!!! :pepper:

Ah, front end is silky smooth now! As far as the battery, they called and told me the mechanic had left the door open overnight and killed the battery so they replaced the battery for free. I had the original battery so it was probably about time for it to go out but.... after thinking about it, if you leave the door open the lights go out after 10 or so minutes so I don't know what the real reason for replacing the battery was. At least it was free and they didn't just charge up my old one and send me on my way.

Any ideas as to the "Real" Story?

BTW, I wanted my jeep to ride softer so I lowered the air pressure in my tires (recommended max 80lbs) to 25lbs. Nice difference. "They will wear out quicker" you say? Good! I'm tired of hearing them roar at 50mph. They were not that bad but now (after about 20,000 miles) they are reduunkkulously loud from 45-60ish.

I need a good quiet MT or AT that still looks half way aggressive in a 31 or 32 inch tall tire.. and that is not a high load rating. Am I asking too much??? :SOMBRERO: Any Sug jersh tions?

Good looking tire Jeepdaddy. Thanks for the suggestion. I see that "E" rating is about the only choice. How is the noise on road and how many miles have you put on them?

8000 so far and you can't tell by any wear , they aren't as quiet as a A/T but not as noisy as 90% of all the tires i had.

on a 1 to 10 scale

'dry road ' traction - 10
noise --8 ( a little louder if i don't rotate 'em)
handling-10

'wet road' traction - 9
noise -- 9 ( got quieter in the rain,, really )
handling -9

'off road ' sand beach driving -9 ( but i didn't air down any)
mud -wet sandy -8
mud ohio clay - 7
general dirt trails -10
rocky trails - 8

the sidewalls seem pretty strong , thought i was going to poke em a couple times but came thru ok!

i have only had em on dirt / rock / sand trails in ohio , and florida . beach in south carolina , and lots of highway in between :JEEPIN: i would buy em again

Really nice pictures! Big thanks for the detailed answers and rankings. Sounds like a good tire and it certainly looks good. Tread pattern looks a lot like the Goodyear Duratrac to me.
What size you running? It looks like a 32 incher to me.

Shag ask Bub about his km2's, they seem good. if you want at's it's hard to beat bfg at's. We haven't had any problems with them and they ride good on road.

x2 on the BFG T/A KO's. I had some 31.5's on a Pathfinder and they are quiet on the highway, good traction on and off road, and they wear very well. But, they are $$$$

I'm currently running Firestone Destination A/T's and am very happy with them on-road, but they don't look as aggressive as the BFG's. Haven't done much with them off road, but I bought them because they were ranked (tirerack.com) equally by owners with the BFG's and were about $50 cheaper per tire. Just my :2cents: as far as A/T's go.

Glad to hear about the JBA's, too. I'm saving my pennies to do a Frankie and JBA's all at one time - hopefully by sometime in June, as my stock suspension is SHOT.

265-75-16's but currently good luck finding any fierces ont he market, they are on back order like every other decent mud terrian out there.

Thats why there is only 4 of them on it and not 5.

Jeepdaddy have you really put 8k on that thing already? It had 19k when we got it and had it a tad over 2 years and you got ti with 67k on it, that baby likes to roll the miles in. Never seemed like we drove 20,000+ a year

Did you get to see the old battery? If not, they probably fried it somehow and toasted your starter in the process.
:furious: That starter didn't just go while in the shop!Fishy.

Check and see if the terminals from your wires are welded up,or new also.
Also check around starter for weld marks.

KM2's Rock!Plenty tread left.Bit pricey though.

Not doing the JBA's at the same time as the lift was my BIG mistake. I was trying to save money at the time of the lift... if only I had known that a year later one of the ball joints would be going bad. At least its done now and now with JBA's product, they are servicable!! YAYES!

I so agree with you Bub. No, didn't get to see the old battery. Funny to that they didn't mention the battery when they first told me about the starter (that I had had ZERO problems with) and like I mentioned, we know leaving the door open (as they claimed) wouldn't run the battery down.

I'll have to look closer at the starter....

Well, to my surprise I am sitting in the waiting room at Tire Kingdom. :pepper: I just hope I am making. A good choice. At list by going through T.K. I get 30 days to swap out to another tire.
I know... Pictures will follow. Right now they are taking off my old tires so nothing to show yet. And just for the record I am keeping my old Trxus (since they still have good tread) and plan to one day get some other wheels to mount them on for off road trips!

Went with a 265/70 this time in an "S" rating. End of the month I'll be pulling a trailer to NC so I hope this size will do better for pulling on the Istate.... And they BETTER be quieter or I'm swapping them out before my 30 days are up!

I'll let the pictures reveal what I picked :-)r :goink:

So far I like the look and the ride. Much quieter (but then again my old tires were not that bad until about 20,000 miles). Of course, compared to Trxus, it would HAVE to be quieter!!!

Oh, and I painted my Grill... Up close it is a bit rough. Not sure that I like it but to much going on right now to worry with it.

Thanks Mag. I'm sure y'all will have a fun time.
My wife graduates from LSU Vet school Monday May 10th and we have all kinds of family coming in that weekend so there is no way I can make it.
I am looking forward to trying out these tires... I bet they will do even better in the sands of Eglin (Florida in general) compared to my Trxus 235/85s!

Yep, I just cut the grass yesterday. Or you could say, I cut all I am going to cut! Landlord can take care of his field. I'll just borrow it every now and then to drive around in. I rode through the field after taking those pictures testing the turn radius and it doesn't seem to rub on either side. Of course, more time will tell the truphus....
