Once every two or three months would be fine with me. I dont think I have enough time to meet every month.

IMHO quarterly meetings and wheeling trips more often, maybe monthly.

Working off the run thread, and since we are new around here, where does everyone go to play?

Hey. I'm in New Orleans and Louisiana doesn't have a group so I'm hopin we'll be adopted since we are so close. I have been to a run in Mobile with the Lock It Up Offroad club. Good bunch people with some VERY built rigs. Lots of Toyotas. We also have some runs with the Louisiana 4x4 club around Hammond, LA and St. Francisville, LA areas. Jason Thompson knows the spots very well. There are no public areas that I know of in our vicinity though. SUCK! When will our first metting be and where?

We should met some where around like vicksburg, or along the river in that area, it would be an easy and quicker drive for some, but the guys up around southhaven, and tenn, might want to move it closer, we should have a ride pretty soon, the weather is perfect for some good wheeling, even if it just some lite stuff.

How about this weekend?
Would be nice if we could find a place that is the same distance from everyone. I know thats kinda hard, but I would have to drive 3.5 hours to get to Vicksburg.

Vicksburg would be over 4 hours each way for me.

anyone know of any public spots around Jackson? that's probably as close to equal distance as we can get give or take a few miles. I will do some research. The sooner the better. I am anxious to wheel with some other KJs.

Awesome. Jackson is fine with me. As I said, I would be free this weekend.

Edit: you can go to trails.com and look for trails in Jackson. I just did that, but all I saw was mountainbike trails.

i say yall should just come over to ride with the guys in LA4X4 we are ridding a bunch and would like to see some new faces
heck we had a H3 join up last night and said that he will be hitting the trails with us yet my wife ,with my full support,is the only KJ hitting the trails and i dont get it because i see folks all over this forum saying that they are looking for places to wheel their KJ's and i know places like hot springs and telico and gilmer realy dont have a lot of trails that are stock KJ friendly but where we go most of the trails are so if yall realy want to ride here is your chance??

As for a meeting place, I really don't have any suggestions to add - yeah I know that is real helpful, but if anyone has considered Hot Springs - it is KJ friendly, I've only been there once (hopefully going back real soon), my stock suspension with full mopar skids did many trails just fine and many more I want to hit that I think will be fine .......... my opinion is not lifted is fine but skids would be a must, if lifted skids are probably still a good idea as there are lots of rocks there that do bite you. Would be great if we could all get together there some time. Next time I go I hope to get some good photos to show what it is like for a KJ.

Hot Springs in AR? Yeah probably not, mapquest sais 6 hours. I mean dont get me wrong the invite is really nice, but there is no way I am going to drive 6 hours to go wheelin for a day. What about the others, is middle MS still a good spot to meet? I mean if you look at everyones location, middle MS is a really good middle.

we are talking if you dont got 38's or bigger dont go in any holes other than that im not sure

hey Endurance
they dont have any thing north and east of you?
I think that going that way to ride would be more fun hitting more rocky and hard packed trails than hitting the dirt and mud in the more southern area?
i am used to traveling to wheel so to drive is no big deal i would make 3 days of it (drive up 1 wheel 1 drive home1)
heck when we go to gilmer it s a 8-10 hour drive one way and we only wheel for 2 days
but i do see your point about the 6 hour drive to wheel 1 day that would be a little much for me
how ever if you get a wild idea and want to wheel with us here in LA the invite stands open and if i get a few guys i may could set up something else so as to not ride just 1 trail in 1 day and then go home
i will post up rides as they come up and if one looks like your "cup-o-tea" just let me know
i will ask aroud maby some of theguys around here will know some place in central ms to ride

Sorry, Hot Springs was not really a suggestion for a meeting place - just a good place to ride, but I know it's a long way for everyone else, maybe a weekend but not for one day. Jason I'm sure we didn't hit the same trails as your TJ and friends went - there are some SERIOUS trails there that you only try with rigs that have been trailered in. Over 1200 acres there so there are trails to please everyone. The last Jeep Jam of the year is there in October but at $195 per person I don't think I'll be there. There are a lot of KJ's in the south, we can't be the only one's that wheel them - as a region we need to be converting some folks to the proper use of their KJs - 5 states and so few appreciated KJs ???

well fellas, I'm slowly making progress toward being wheeling-ready. Last week I got some 235/70 Firestone Destination A/T's...they've got a pretty agressive tread for an A/T. I did a nice little hill climb on dry dirt back at home, but I still need to get a front skid and tow hooks before I'll commit to any wheeling trips. Central Mississippi would work perfect, seeing as I'm down in Starkville for college and summer. On an unrelated note, if anyone's interested, there's an airshow at Columbus Air Force Base this Sunday. It should be interesting, there's gonna be some A-10's and the Thunderbirds will be performing, in addition to all kinds of other planes.
