Hey,

Theres a new offroad park in Ocala. Looks like it might be a good place to ride.

I'm going to head up there in June and check it out. If's it turns out to be a bunch of fun maybe we can plan a ride up there toward the end of summer!!

I know this will not be an easy date for many of you, but I'm heading up on June 14th to check it out. If anyone thinks they can go let me know. This is a scouting trip. I'm taking the Rubi just to see how things are and if I think it would be fun for the club. All who want to go let me know and we'll meet.

jesh, a Thursday Wes??? must be nice to have an easy job like yours

Hopefully this place turns out to be something good. The end of the month deal where the entire place is open to Jeeps looks like a good time. I'm kinda skeptical of a rock garden in Fla.

But let us know.

Just watched the video, not too bad. That hill is going to be real torn up real quick. I think that may be my next arch nemisis (spelling?). Did I hear someone say "LOCKER"???? Wes I think you can set your lockers, put it in 1st and take a quick nap while the Rubi crawls up it!

Here is a few more pictures. The rocks look way to big for me. Maybe there are some smaller rocks somewhere around the park. Looks like it might be alot of fun.

Yeah the 14th is an odd date but it's the only date I could go. I have to much going on this summer. End of June is a family vacation to the Keys, then July is a mission trip to Haiti so my summer is about booked up.

We are going to leave from my house around 9am Thursday. I'm not sure how long it will take us to get there. I'm figuring around one hour. Then we'll grab an early lunch and ride the rest of the afternoon.

This is a very good place to offroad. We started out about 9am heading toward Ocala. We arrived at the offroad park about 10:15am and paid our $25 fee. They give you a small sticker to put on your window and your off. The park is not huge, but it's big enough to have a good time. They are still adding trails weekly. We had a great time. It would be a great place for a small groups to ride. I would say a group of 10 vehicle would have a good time. For the really steep hill climbs you need at least a limited slip in the rear, or some type of ETC. Also it would be really scary going down some of the hills if you don't have low gearing. I had one trail that I ended up winching up. The last climb was a rocky trail with about a 6 foot high verticle wall of rock and dirt. This is very good offroading for Florida. My next trip will be around the end of summer. If there is enough interest I'll check into a group rate. I'm attaching a few photos and a couple of videos. This is not for the faint of heart. I laid my jeep over in some ruts on a steep climb. Luckly my rockrail caught it and the mirror folded in. No damage but scary. There are some places that could be very dangerous without experience. I would not encourage someone with out experience to go by themselves. Go with someone that has been rock crawling or has a bunch of offroad experience. On some of the climbs I was sliding with both front and rear lockers locked. This is a true jewel for central Florida. Nothing like it around these parts.

This Video is the best one, My friend was stuck right at the top of a very long hill climb. He doesn't have a ton of offroad experience, but with a little instruction he did a really good job in the scary situation. My Rubicon was locked up front and rear climbing that slope. All he had was a limited slip in the rear.

That looks like a great time!!! I'm sure Bryan puckered up a couple times on that hill!!!

The Rubi looks bad butt with the snorkle!!! Thanks for the report.

I think I'm going out to Ocala tommo. I was out last week and it was still dry, but we had alot of rain this week, so maybe there will be some water.

$25 is good for all day, 10am to 5pm. They will let you come and go, you just have to check back in when you come back. We rode for one hour then went to lunch and came back. There are several little dinners around there.
