So, for all that have gone down RR grade with us, you know that little split when you get to the first water crossing it goes out to the left? I took the rail down there last weekend, holy crap that trail goes on forever, and there are some awesome hills to climb up. I dont think the Libby's would fit though, its an old ATV trail that is lost and doesnt look like anyone uses anymore, it eventually come out north of the OHV area back towards big scrub. It would be cool to clear it out just the low hanging stuff so you guys could go that way. The trail gets very tight, but for all you "racing stripe" types it could be done. If anyone wants to ride out there one weekend and try it I will show you where we went.

I was on Google Earth trying to find where you were talking about. No luck. The Old Railroad Grade road is marked as such, all the other roads are FS roads with a number. Got any numbers to get me to the right split?

Sorry to say that you have to get used to being the lone KJ when wheeling. We are a BIG minority! In some ways I like it like that because there are a lot of people that don't even know that a KJ is very capable off road. I like to surprise them! :twisted:

You should have heard the comments when I was at the Bunnell Mud Bog. The comments went from pointing and laughing at me when I pulled in, to lots of thumbs up and great compliments when I left. The best part.......a Wrangler with lockers front and back couldn't make this one section. I not only went through it but turned around and came back through the same spot. The big difference? I had brand new tires and his were about shot! He would have made it with good tires but he was one that said "darn, that thing is good!".

I guess I got used to wheeling with LOST Rockies chapter twice a month or so when the weather was good.

yes, gas prices are keeping me more local these days. Unfortunately locally, any new trail area is quickly shut down by the cops. Glad I have a 45mpg alternative to getting around.

You can see this Google map I made, The split goes out to the north west. There are dozens of trails that way, and not many of them traveled. Id be happy to run out there and see if you can make it.

I got the soft 8's and Mud Rovers a few weeks ago. The tires are awsome!!

The trail looks pretty good. Is that streach of the RR Grade open also? It looks pretty well over grown. I was thinking of bringing a hand type limb saw . Were you thinking of opening the trail up a little?

I drove an ATV trail at 10,000 acres, it was really tight but doable with pinstripping! That is not a problem. Full grown trees are a problem!

Yeah we pass this cut off on RRG all the time, its just so tight looking and we have so many rigs we never go that way. Mostly this is all over growth, there are some low blown over trees but nothing crazy, lost of brush and tons of soft sand. Ill bring the electric sawzall.

I just tore down my motor and my other rail is being painted right now, so it will be a month or so before I can head out. The Libby gets a detailing this weekend and shes being sold off next week.

Thanks for saving me all the work of doing that. My plan is in about 2 years my KJ will look just about like that. The cutoff will be a little further back with a small side window. Weld in the back doors and some kind of roll bar in the back also. The unibody will weaken a lot if something isn't done. Then, a SMALL V-8, bored out, stoked and polished. That last sentence is a pipe dream. The other will happen.

Sorry to hear that! If you hear of anyone with Libby sliders let me know. With the price of gas the way it is I took off: basket, spare tire and all of the skids except the gas tank one. I am thinking of taking off the tire/rim combo and going back to stock ones. Then I can just swap the good ones back on when going off trails, along with the skids. The basket will probably stay off till needed. But, with the back seat out I don't think I'll ever need the basket again.

Back on subject: I'm going to NE Ohio and NW Pennsylvania for a week or so. Family reunion and visit some friends. I won't be around on the first weekend of July. Anytime after that would work, I assume it would be a weekend.

What kind of tools would be handy to have for this trail? I have:

1. A good sized heavy chain with hooks on each end
2. Limb saw...good up to the size of my (skinny) upper arm! :lol:

3. Short or long handle shovel
4. A willing mind and a weak body!

I decided to hell with the gas mileage! The mud rovers are staying on, the spare is back on and the rack with lights will be back on. I'm still waiting on when we can tackle that trail!
