Hey guys lets get some feed back on the next trail ride. I know some of you guys came a long distance to ride with us in Ocala, now do you have some places near you that can compare or might be better? Im going to try and keep the riding spots new and different for awhile, as to make everyone envolved somehow.

If you have a trail you think would be a L.O.S.T challenge then reply back and we will disscuss and plan a date.

The next dates Im thinking could be:
April 15

Im looking for you High Springs, Melborne, and Clearwater guys to chime in, maybe there are some South FL guys looking at this? I know there are some more great places to ride.

April 15-16th would be good for me. Kid is out of school for spring break, wife is off work. We are planning a camping trip so I figure we could do some offroading. What do you guys think about that date??

So basically one month from now? Sounds good. I will try to find some info on different places with some good terrain that we can legally run.

Well that date is not set in stone, not everyone has said much about the dates, only really agreed with the first one said. I would actually like to have that weekend to get ready for Moab but if you guys want to ride thats ok too. Or like you said We could meet up one day, Im sure Rick might want to go, he is our age too.

If it was the weekend after I could have made it. Got any other trips planned? I go to Slidell all the time.

Ok guys well its looking like the April Meet will be the 15th.

For now we are riding Ocala but in a different area. The meeting place will be the same Kangaroo gas station as before. If you can make it chime in and say so for a head count. Bring a lunch. We will be north of hwy 19 near the bombing range. This will be more of a scouting adventure for I havent been up in that area in a long time. and haven been down most the trails. If you have somewhere you would rather ride let us know.

just to be clear.....april 15 is a saturday.....april 16 is easter sunday.....I'll have to talk to my wife about that weekend....

I was also considering a orlando jeep club ride the following weekend....I think its going to be somewhere in citrus county which is west of leesburg/west of interstate 75.....I've not been over there and thought it would be a opportunity to scout out a future ride for our gang....

wes, were you thinking of camping easter weekend?.....

gayden, what is your "out of town" window for moab?.....

unless we get some rain soon, the forest is going to be a very dusty ride with a good chance of fires....the bombing range area is higher ground so there won't be the excitement of the deep water stuff we had last time.....maybe more chances to crawl over down tree limbs and scratch the clearcoat if we go exploring the side trails.....

it's easy for me to attend anything in the ocala forest because I live less than an hour away.....it's more of a effort for some others....so consider carefully the likelihood of a very dry, soft-sandy ride and if that's worth it for you.....although it will only get hotter, when the summer rains come, it will turn the forest green again and relieve the fire threat.....

these are just some of the "negative" thoughts I had....I will probably be able to attend the saturday april 15 ride....50/50 chance right now.....

and for a slightly different idea to kick around.....

the KJ is a comfortable highway jeep....we bought ours for road trips to north georgia where the mountains begin and the forests are green and rocky.....many streams and small waterfalls.....somewhat cooler temperatures.....we tent camp in forest campgrounds or georgia state parks.....we usually day hike the trails but now we are looking for fun jeep rides on forest roads.....but if you are willing to walk with a daypack, the hiking trails are fun....

a typical weekend for us is to leave town on a thursday night and drive through atlanta before daylight friday morning.....gail usually sleeps in the car.....we go to dalonaga or helen, georgia and catch a 24hr wal-mart for chicken and ice and then hit the mountains in the friday morning calm.....find a campsite before the weekenders arrive.....cook chicken on the grill friday night, build a small fire, drink a beer, and catch up on the sleep.....spend saturday in adventure.....drive home sunday.....

we didn't get to go much this past year because of family issues....I imagine we'll go at least one weekend before summer gets here.....you need a tent and a cooler, maybe an air mattress.....we have everything else....

check out Amicalola State Park or Vogel State Park in northeast georgia.....they're very nice....good facilities....small store.....camper hookups....the only thing is you have to make a camping reservation, especially for popular weekends.....there are lots of other "no reserve" campgrounds up there....we like these also but you have somewhat less facilities.....cold showers for example....

I'm not sure about the camping thing yet. We are a guy down at work so they have been changing the scheduling around. I'm pretty sure I can go offroading on the 15th. Just not sure I can camp out yet.
