Ok guys, May 19th - may 22nd is Jeep Beach, which is apparently a big deal but I have no clue what it's like because I've never been and Daytona isn't really a 4X4 destination whatsoever. Nonetheless, they do this thing every year, and while it has a several different events that span the entire weekend, there is a trail ride Saturday morning, from 8am to 12 noon. It's being held on private property near New Smyrna, so it might be a good opportunity to run a trail that we couldn't normally run. It sure would be cool to show up with a bunch of KJs (and our non-KJ friends) to show all those other jeeps that we mean business. The weekend as a whole looks more like a family vacation for non-central Florida residents, but we don't have to participate in any of the other stuff to go on the trail ride. I will contact the person coordinating the trail ride if we have enough people interested that can commit. Check out the website, and post your comments. http://www.jeepbeach.com

Rick

Looks like it could be cool, some touristy things to stay away from. I would be interested in going. How was the ride last weekend Rick?

Hi guys, I just got the information from those that are in charge of the event:

"I am sorry, but as stated the event is all inclusive. There is not a separate fee for the trail ride alone. The ride is on private property and everyone must be registered."

The registration information on the Jeep Beach homepage details an all inclusive package for the entire event, and they are charging $50 per jeep, $10 per additional person. I realize that this is not a viable option for most of us, so if anyone does plan on going, let the others here know so you can meet up there.

Rick

Ok whos shelling out the $50 bucks for this? Seems thats about what I pay for a full tank of gas , id rather use it to drive somewhere else. Anyone thinking about wanting to ride elsewhere? Some place other than Ocala? I want to check out where Steve went with the orlando jeep club. Lakeland or maybe somewhere down south? Georgia? Ideas anyone?

I never got to go with the jeep club....so I don't have a scout report for us.....I know where they went to camp and gather but I don't know the trails.....

I don't plan to make the jeep beach function at this time....lately it seems like I might as well take up a "no fun" lifestyle....probably just as well since it hasn't rained much and the forests are probably fireboxes waiting to be lit....

I may have some other news in a few days....stay tuned.....

I posted in the GA groups area to see maybe they might want to run on Memorial day weekend? Id like to go do something fun that weekend.

I agree with the Forest runs, its way to dry I was just out fishing in some of the lakes we went to on the Ocala run and its dry dry dry. Plus Im getting tired of the same old thing.

Yeah, think I will pass on that one too. Thanks for checking it out and thinking of all of us Rick. It is so darn dry out I wonder if they will even have the trail ride.

OK instead of a trail ride and all how about a trip to a spring? Like Blue Springs, Weikiva, etc....?

I know Blue springs is only 5 bucks per car to get in and we could all pack a day lunch and stuff. there is plenty of swimming and fun stuff for the kids.

No we have a State Park but its closed for now. The developers own nearly everything else. We're changing the name of this town to Port Condo.
