Well guys, after all my trouble with my CRD I have finally given up. It's died on my wife last night. I took it over to the dealership this morning to have them look at it. The parts are backordered for an unknown amount of time and they still can't figure out the transmission.

I finally flipped out and traded it in for a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Hope you guys don't think any less of me and will still let me hang out. I'm going to try and attend the next ride and I plan on staying up on the Liberty's so I can help out on the installs of parts and lifts.

Wes

PS. I also have an extra provent and filter if anyone wants it.

Black with a black top. It's really a nice vehicle. The wife really loves it. I'm going to get some pictures posted before to long. I decided I didn't want another diesel until they get all the issues worked out, BUT I did really like the power and torque of that little CRD and I'm going to miss my towing ablity with it. With the trouble we were having, the wife lost he confidence in the CRD. It pretty much made up my mind when they told me it would take possibly weeks to get it fixed:(. Anyways, I'll try to get some pictures posted.

I'm pleased for you guys and glad micki likes it....did you go for the six speed manual transmission?.....I've read the '06 will be considered a collectable in years to come....

to tell the truth, I'm jealous....when we went jeep shopping, the unlimited was just out....it came out mid year 2004....there were a few on the lots at each dearler and gail actually liked it and suggested we go in that direction.....but I had been seeing libertys on the road and stuck with my first intention....

now that I know more about jeeps and trail rides and stuff, I kind of wished we had bought the unlimited wrangler.....I may trade our KJ in the future but I would lose value until I pay it down some.....

wish we hadn't taken your new diesel through all that water a few months ago....I hope that didn't cause all your problems....

Naaa, the water and 4x4 stuff was fine. It was the oil blow by and the EGR Valve being replace every 5000 miles. The transmission had been bucking since day one and it had gotten worse over the last 3 or 4000 miles. The CRD seem to be good engines, it's the electronics and emission stuff that seems to go bad. I'm very pleased with the Rubicon so far. I took it out today to play a little on the railroad grade. I was able to climb a very steep hill in 4-low, front and rear lockers engaged, at idle. The 4 to 1 transfer case if awesome. Steve I did get the 6 speed. I was worried about getting another automatic. I decided that the 6 speed would get better MPG and last a good bit longer. With the cost of this thing I'm going to have to keep it for 50 years.

Camper. My plan is to keep the KJ. However I'm going to get an old YJ for Deep mud and other hard core wheelin. I owe too much money on the KJ to beat the heck out of it.

Go Steve!! After you get done modding that TJ you'll be crawling all over Moab. That nice hard top makes me want one. The soft top is fun except on really hot and really cold days. Still LOST.
