all depends on brand, type of tread etc. 265-70s are more in line with the 245-75s than the 255-70s are. Not much but some
For example looking at BFG/ATs
a 245-75-16 is 30.5
a 265-70-16 is 30.7

a 255-70-16 is 30.2
Owning and managing Tire shops for quite a few years has taught me a few things.
As far as studding a tire as long as you do it brand new you are fine, some people think they can run them and get them studded later on, which you can't.
Also while the Grabbers are a more aggressive tire, still not that good IMO, never did like them or see that they were that great, too much like the BFG/AT.
As far as depth of tread that means nothing, you could have a tire with 15/32s wear longer than one with 18/32s depending on the quality of the rubber used etc. Many things come into play more than just tread depth.
True, but the Grabbers have a 60K mile tread warranty and the others don't. That says something right there.
Also, .3" of an inch difference in tire height is nothing. That equates to .15" of additionall ground clearance which is almost impossible to even measure. 265/70, 245/75, 255/70 are all equal in terms of off-road ability. There is not enough difference in size between any of those to matter.
I can honestly say that I've been in flooding (and recovered another 4x4 from a flash flooded creek), snow, rocks, sand, mud, hard pack, and high speed interstate with these tires and they have never let me down. They excel at everything. The only place they might not be perfect is in a deep mud pit...but for that you'd need a MT and then the MT is going to suck at everything else. So all in all, the Grabber is probably the best all-around tire you can get. Especially for the price.
