I heard on here somewhere some 15" rims will fit a KJ and i'm looking to make the swap if I can based on tire selection/pricing alone. Does anyone have specific info on this.
thanks

some 15" aftermarket steel wheels will fit, most 15" aluminum will not clear calipers.

Most run cragar soft 8s, or their equivalents. Procomp and blackrock.

Cheapest I've found in that soft 8 or D window is the Unique Wheels series 297 15x7 ($10-15 less than Cragar - same wheel). Coolest I've found are the Rock Crawler series 152 streetlocks but at $130 each a bit rich. Note almost all steelies you find DO NOT INCLUDE center caps - count on them being a few more bucks extra depending on the brand.

Seriously considering running 15x7 with a 31x10.5x15 instead of the 16x7 with 245/75R16, but I do wonder about the weight differences of wheel/tire combos in 15s VS 16s depending on tire widths...

The 31's will be fine, I ran them for a year. 245 on a stock rim weighs about the same. Also its not the caliper that the Aluminum wheels that hit its the wheel hitting the Knuckle/Tierod. 15x7's with 4" BS will work for you.

thanks for the info... i figured the weight differance would not be significant but as i said before the selection of mud/at tires is greater and a bit cheaper than the 16" ones the rims are allot cheaper.. I will be checking out the unique wheels to compare to crager soft 8's. thinking of keeping the 16"s for my everyday driving and getting the 15"s with a more aggressive mt for my wheeling trips but thats allot of money to keep stacked in the garage for the occasional wheeling trip.

Whats the going rate if I were to sell my 5 stock rene wheel in good shape with 235-70-16 tires about %50 tread on 4 and %100 on spare?

When you're comparing prices, check summitracing.com. I got mine through them. They were cheap and shipping was super cheap.

Gotcha! I feel luck in a way I live about 5 miles from Summit in Tallmadge OH. I frequent the clearance corner and have actually picked up rims for the YJ spare brand new for $20 at Summit
