Hi all,

Long time lurker (been waiting to rack up the miles and pay off the CRD) who's now looking to do some modifications. I'll be doing the OME/Billstein lift on along with the top plats and clevis lift next. My question is around tire-size...

245/75-16's seem to be more popular on the board vs. 265/70-16's and I'm not sure why that is. Specification wise they're essentially the same thing within a fraction of an inch in the height and width department, so I was wondering if anyone could comment on the usage?

If I went with the 245's I'd go with 16x7's w/ 4" of back spacing and if I went with the 265's, 16x8's (not sure on the proper back spacing?) I'm looking to run an A/T tire, so clunky tread won't be an issue for clearance. That said, will I still need to trim the fenders and hammer the pinch weld?

As it stands now, there seems to be more available options for 265's and 16x8's and since cost is a major variable I'm exploring this.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Also, is there an actual thread that shows lifted KJ's? I've ran across the a couple random pics and a thread about mod's but nothing with just pics of lifted KJ's and their details.

Thanks!

J

16X7s with 4 inch backspacing will work for either tire size, don't need 8 inch wheels for 265-70s .
You may have to pound over the pinch weld so we've lifted here needed it others didn't and cleared enough
I like to pound them over just because .....
There are more choices really in 245-75s the 265-70s and thats why more go that route .
You shouldn't have to trim any fenders with proper width wheels etc
Lots of pictures everywhere on here from the picture section to other places

Thank you for the reply! I was actually thinking (but typed) about the 245's and 16x7's having more options. Been researching wheels and tires non-stop for the past few days and my mind is mush!

I would like to know what you get and how it works. Are you lifted or stock?

Will certainly post up pics when complete. I'm not in a major rush. Looking for best pricing on the suspension components now along with a set of used rims that I can blast and powdercoat.

245/75's will be "E" range tires, much better suited for your CRD.There are only 1 or 2 tires made in the 245/75 size that are not "E" rated tires and one is the Duratrac which can be had in "C" or "E" range.265/70's will be "P" rated tires and not up to any offroading if you plan on going off the pavement.

x2 and if you want MT's - you won't find them in 265/70/16's
AT's yes - not MT's
