Nitto has a new tire coming out called the Exo Grappler AWT. It's advertised on the back of the September DieselPower magazine that I received today (July 17th). Since it's badged with the 3-peak mountain snowflake, I wanted to learn more. As of today, it's still not listed on Nitto's website. I'll post up as soon as I see an update.

Was reading about this tire on Expo, never found a picture of it yet though. Is there a photo on the Diesel Power magazine ?

Yes, the entire back page (outside magazine cover) has a blown up picture of the AWT with a description of the tire.

*New cut and chip resistant compound
*High Density Sipes
*Optional winter studs
*Large lateral grooves
*Variable pitch tread blocks
*3-ply sidewall
*Two distinct sidewall designs
*3 -peak mountain snowflake for winter conditions.

"Nitto will launch the tire in July in eight sizes, release three more sizes during the remainder of 2014 and continue to expand the size line-up through 2015."

That looks nice. I hope they have a 245/70/17 by this winter, my Terras are to due to be replaced. If these aren't available I'll go with Terras again.

I really need that 3-peak mountain snowflake, but I'm not looking forward to the LT ride. I've gotten use to P rated tires and their soft ride. The General Grabber AT2 are the only P rated tire that I can think of that is snow rated besides a designated snow tire.

They are claiming: "New cut and chip resistant compound"
Based on what I have read, Nitto and Toyo are using a good rubber compound that isn't suppose to chunk. That compound, I believe, is found on the higher ply tires. Sometimes the lower ply tires do not get the same compound.
