I won't be surprised at all if I get 30 out of em. They look great for having 10 on them already so I don't see why I won't get well over 18.

Do KJ's have substandard sound-proofing?

could be a few things
#1 the KJ is loud
#2 psi in his or your tires
#3 he has more side wall to absorb some of the noise
#4 his may be more broken in than yours
#5 you could have an alignment issue

#1 the KJ is loud: This is probably the root cause; since my friends FJ is actually built on a frame, perhaps more of the noise and vibration is absorbed by it.... The KJ and its Uni-body construction may just be transferrring all that noise and vibration from the Drivetrain straight into the cabin....

#2 psi in his or your tires: I adjusted the psi from a warm 38psi to a warm 42 psi.... No change..... max load is 80

#3 he has more side wall to absorb some of the noise: The FJ has 285/70/17's and my KJ has 245/70/17's... If anything, the FJ should be louder!

#4 his may be more broken in than yours The FJ's have about 500 miles on them....

#5 you could have an alignment issue Paid big bucks at the dealership for an alignment a couple hours after getting the lift...... Hope that's not the case!

number 1 is a lot or the main part of it right there, frame -vs- unibody

number 3 his are bigger tires so more sidewall to absorb the sound ,yours are what like 30 inch or 30.5 and his are 32.5 or 32.7 or so that would make a little difference

Kjs are just a little noisy, but not any worse than my old CJ/XJs or any of the others I have had

Yeah that must be it...when I test drove a new '08 Rubicon last month, it had big mud tires and I had the roof down and everything and I barely noticed the tire noise... That hefty frame of the JK I think was absorbing it all......

When the first JK Rubi's came out, I was contemplating a jump to one. I searched and then hovered on the JK section of some larger boards for a couple of weeks. At least then, the mud performance of the the new tires were being complained about. That seemed to me to be a big condemnation for a tire with "mud" in its name. That was not the reason I did not buy, though.

The KM2s aren't on the new JK rubicons. They are a special edition BFG MT that more closely resembles the original BFG MT. They have a specially shaped center lug. The KM2s are totally different.

The KM2's are ment to mimik the BFG Krawlers, basically same tread design just made out of harder rubber. The Krawlers suck on any surface besides rocks and that is mostly due to the soft compound it is made out of.They came out with the KM2's to give that image that you are getting a Krawler but you are not even getting a close tire as the Krawler, just a ploy to sell more tires that aren't worth a dang.

Below is a pic of the Krawler tires, very, very close to the KM2.

I still disagree with Troy on this. I have yet to hear anyone say a negative thing about them off road from anyone but him. Met plenty of guys that love them and swear by them. I never liked the original BFG MTs but these seem to be a good tire from pretty much everything I have heard. And yes they are an every man version of the Krawler. Just my 2 cents from what I have heard from guys using them.

Yep and I'll have to disagree with you, almost everyone here in CO running them hate them. They can't even hardly give them away. Then again the Krawlers where never that great either, sure they won alot of compitions but tires play a very small role in that and from the use of a ultra soft compound that will get eatin in less then 5000 miles of street use(comp compound, they sell to the general market the slightly stiffer red and blue labal).

From what I have read so far on various forums and talking to a couple of friends that are still in the tire game they are more of a wanna be tire, have the looks of the comp tire, but wearing longer than the comp tire would. Sure they are pushing them big time, they have a lot of coin wrapped up so they have to, but not putting my dollar out for them, even if I had a 1000 laying here ready for tires, there are better tires for the money and application I think!

Tell them to contact me, they can give them to me. I would like them to be in the 35x12.50-15 variety please.

OK so far everyone I have talked to that is running the BFG KM2's loves them. I still have yet to hear anyone say otherwise. My offer still stands to come pick up any unwanted KM2s as long as they are still in decent shape. If they are 35's for 15" rims I will even go so far as to pay $50.00 a tire.

I am pretty sure I will be running them for my next tire. Only other tire I would purchase in their place would have been the Irok ND but thats a no go on the right size for my setup. So the KM2s are at the top of my list. There are a few people running them on their XJs and one on their TJ (iirc) in our local group and they all love them big time.

Did qbracken ever decide to keep or return his? I could use more shots of them on a KJ.

I have been watching what people say about the KM2's and so far nobody that actually has them on their rig has complained about them that I have taked to. I see a lot on the internet about people saying "I have heard people complaining about them", but I have yet to run into anyone ACTUALLY RUNNING them that has spoken bad about their performance. One about the noise, but give me a break, these are offroad tires, they make noise. You don't want noise run a darn street tire.

Yep, qbracken was the first person I heard complain that actually runs them. He didn't like the noise but he was running the tires that came stock before so the KM2s were bound to be louder.
