I just swapped out my stock rims and tires for some 245/70 BFG A/T KO tires with a set of rims from an '06 Rubicon.
I put them on my '06 Libby Limited and notice a bit of vibration through the steering wheel at around 70-80MPH is this
normal? I might expect it since i had the Wrangler ST on there before which have a lot less agressive tread.....just curious.

By the way i had the wheels installed and balanced at BIG O tires a couple of days ago so they "should" be in spec.

:?

usually a vibe like that is a wheel or wheels outta balance but you would notice that at a lot lower speed also.

Well mine happens at around 30 mph its just slightly though. It kinda feels like warpped rotors but that not that much vibration though. I think its the threads for me but i dont know how much vibration you are getting.

Might have gotten a bad tire too.

I have gotten a few unround tires before. Sometimes they slip through the QC line. Most of the tire stores will exchange the tire IF this is the problem.

I would bet 99% that it just needs to be rebalanced

My generals also vibrate alittle around 65-70mph. I guess they didnt do a good job at balancing, its a home run business thing too... :( Ive been trying to go to these people alot b/c they seem to do really good work. Most of the time they wont let us pay b/c they know us so well. Makes us feel alittle bad but I like their work. :?

The only rims I have found that I can put on my KJ without any vibes in the steering wheel what so ever above 75mph are the steal factory rims. I have tried three different types.

Did you take off the little rotor retaining clips?

If not, then any aftermarket wheels will not seat flat. This will cause vibes.

Yes I took the factory retaining clip off. That is a great point however!
