Post subject:  General Grabber AT2's

Just got my set put on today, it was kind of a hassle, walmart wouldnt do it because they are oversized (245/70/16), but set me up with a floor jack and a 4-way in the back of the parking lot and mounted the wheels as I gave'm to them. It was worth the work, they look great, havent put more then 15 miles on them yet, but as far as road manners go they seem to be much better then what I had. Some rubbing, in the front, not sure where, dont really care, its only at full lock, will post pictures when I get the chance.

Welcome to the club. With nearly 3,000 miles on my Grabbers, they look and drive like new. I'm eager to see how they do in the snow this winter. Tire Rack reviews score them pretty well, but I don't put too much stock in those reviews, as they are very subjective.

Next week, I'm going to order my full-size spare from Tire Barn and then do a 5-wheel rotation. Tire Barn will order and install the tire for $109.95. Not too shabby. Plus they're practically next door to my office, so once the tire's in stock, I can have it on the Liberty in just a few minutes on a weekday.

What is the tread width on the 245-70's? That is the only spec I cant find on that tire. Also if anyone has the AT2 in stock 225/75/16 size, measure the tread width on it for me too if you could. Not the tire width just the tread width. I think I am going to go with this tire, so far I cant find a reason not too.

If you are going with the 225/75/16 do it quickly! My 4 showed up at walmart, one has sidewall damage, Walmart could not get another in untill late Oct when some will show up in Chicago, General Cust Svc explained that the next few production runs in that size are LT not XL and the XL will be very scarce in the coming months. I ordered one tire from Tirerack that will be here Monday then I can get the 4 on.

How heavy and stiff the grabbers are surprised me! It is one seriously tough tire. Hopefully Monday I will be all on and I can report/measure

The tread is the full width of the tire minus maybe 2mm.

Wow, thats about 1/2" wider than other tires in that size, including revo's. So what will be the difference in the XL tire versus a LT tire?

LT wll carry more load, overkill for the CRD unless you are ALWAYS towing near the limit.

I put just over 500 miles on the new grabbers today, the Liberty is like a different vehicle from the Goodyear St's, no more "mush" " "wiggle" in the corners, noticeable better traction. It is like I always thought the Liberty should drive. Little bit of road noise at 30-35 otherwse it is just as quiet as the St's. The St's were like paper in the sidewalls, the Grabbers are quite stiff, stiffer than REVOs in the shop where I got them installed.

My wife when she saw the Liberty last night after I got them on described them as "Brutal" looking, which works fine for me!

One heck of a bargain at $72 at Tirerack or $77 at Walmart(get ready to wait at Wally...)
