Post subject: | MT/R Tire Pressure ?? |
I just put my Rubicon rims on with the Goodyear MT/R's and it says to inflate to 80 PSI cold. That's quite a bit higher than I am used to. My Duelers say 44 PSI. Is 80 ok on the MT/R's??? I have a 6 hour drive this weekend and I want to be sure. Thanks |

80 is the MAX...not recommended. Most run the MTRs at 35-45psi. I run mine at 38. |

If you divide the load rating by the pressure and adjust it to your actual weight I think you'll find 30 to 32 psi will give you a full foot print. I run my MTR's at 30 psi and get the full footprint, I check it by running over blank white paper and measuring the tread impression. For what it's worth! Joe ![]() |

![]() That is worth quite a bit for sure. ![]() So how wide is the footprint on those 235's running at that pressure? I am considering going to the 235/85's when I buy new tires. |

7 1/4 " , I like these because I'm running stock alloy wheels and they are a 1/2 " smaller in width but a full 32" dia. wide gives me the height I want and some clearance in the wheel well due to the smaller width 9.3 ". My 245's were 9.8 " wide. In addition I installed 5mm wheel spacers (3/16"). Joe ![]() |
