Anyone running these on their KJ?

Will this wheel even work (their website says so) as far as bolt pattern and offset?

I'm thinking about only going to a 225 or 235 tire as opposed to the stock 215.

Any wheel with a 5 / 4.5 bolt pattern & 4" backspacing will work. Example; 16" rims, you want 7" or 8" width wheels if running stock tires - to - 1 - 3 sizes larger. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks Hammer....I thought that those wheels would work but it's always better to check for a second opinion.

I like the look of those wheels, but I'm not 100% sold on the little pinstriping around the edge. Any other wheels that are similar without the stripe?

Anytime. RockCrawler makes a black steel wheel. It's available at 4X4 RockShop, among other places.

Very cool....thanks.

Is there any substantative difference between using a 16x8 vs 16x7?

It says no lug nuts or center caps......I assume that I could just use the KJ's lug nuts but what about the center cap? Is there a "standard" cap?

No, not really.

So what would a 4.25" backspacing do(8" wide rim)? Would that push the wheel/tire combo out? Add or detract from clearance?

I've got 245/75x16 BFG's on stock, Renegade rims (7" wide).

More back spacing means the tire is tucked further in towards the center of the vehicle. Less back spacing means the stick out farther. Which is better depends on what you're trying to do.

Keep in mind that if you want to go with a wider tire and you go with a rim that has more back spacing than stock, you potentially run into issues with the tires hitting the running gear on the inside of the fender well. If you go with more back spacing, then rubbing on or around the flares can be an issue.

Your best bet is to find someone who is running the setup you're looking for and ask them how it works. Each Jeep is gonna be a little different, but for the most part you can get a good idea from someone who has that setup.

Hope that helps,
Jeff

I was reading Tirerack.com and it says the 245/75x16 BFG AT KO should be mounted on rims between 6.5-7.5", ideally 7".

So I guess I'll stick with a stock width rim instead of 8".

Maybe even buy a stock steel rim and paint it black.

I'm running the 245/75x16 BFG KOs on 8" Rubicon rims and they work great so far. To me they fit the rims perfect. We're running 40 psi and get a perfect wear pattern when I chalk tested them.

Very interesting. The stock Rubicon Moab rims are 8" wide and they come with 245/75x16's? Hmmm.

how come they have such different backspacing that our 7" rims.

After reading that web site, I see that backspacing is measured from back of rim to the back of the mounting hub. Less backspacing means the tire is moved outward from the vehicle (assuming the same size rim).

So I've read that the Moab rims from Rubicons are 5" or was it 5.5" backspacing on 8" wide rims, whereas my 7" rims are 4" backspacing.

That sounds to me like the inner part of the tire would be closer to the inner fender (and sway bar at full lock) of our KJ. That's why I can't imagine how those wheels and tires work so well. (i believe that they do, yes.)

So please, a little help. tnx

The Moab rims certainly seem to have the same or possibly less back spacing than the stock wheels, but I'll check to be sure. It may take me a day or so, but the next time I have time, I'll measure the Moabs on my wife's Jeep and the next time I'm at the shop, I can measure the stock rims as well.
