| Post subject: | Bridgestone Revos vs. Pirelli Scorpian ATR's |
Well, after about 45k miles on my set of Revo's its time for new tires. I was just going to go down the Revo trail again, but decided to check out the TireRack rankings to see if anything had changed. I was impressed by the ratings that the Pirelli Scorpian ATR's got, and the fact that they were less expensive than the Revo's. The Scorpian ATR's seem to be a new(er) tire, so there aren't as many reviews out there as there are for Revo's. I was just wondering if anyone had a set of Scorpian ATR's and how they liked them? (Especially in comparison to the Revo's, if possible.) |

I can only compare the Scorpions to the Goodyear MT/Rs. I had 265/70 Scorp ATRs on my libby before I got my MOABs and MT/Rs. They performed well enough of-road and in the snow that if I didn't get such a good deal on the rims and tires, I would not have changed. 3 of my 6 serious offroad trips were on the Scrops and I was completely impressed by them. That being said, I never used the revoes, but have heard nothing but good things about them. Here's some pics from paragon with the Scorpions... http://jeep.allgris.com/v/action/paragon06-06/ P.S. They actually have a scorpion on the side of em. worth major cool points. |

ATR's got strange tread pattern, looks like they would get eaten up quickly at the end of those narrowing sipes. Otherwise I can just say that they look good and I considered getting them. I read a few reviews that said these got flat spots after sitting for long, also reported mileage over at tirerack wasn't enough to make anything out of the ratings. I like revos, but they don't come in my size. Here is a "promo" review: http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/ ... li_atr.htm Gris, yours were A/T, there is a bit of difference on the tread depth. Good Luck. |

ooops, sorry. You are right. I remember now that I didn't get the "real" off-road scorps. |

Gris, I think you are wrong again. Just my opinion, but the old A/Ts look much better suited for off road than the new ATRs. A/Ts (yours) had wider and deeper tread pattern, newer ATR is narrower and looks like they won't grab as well. ATR:

I had some Scorp AT's and they seemed too soft for my liking- the sidewalls were pretty weak- they got some bad rock gouges. Other than that, they had great off road handling and were probably the best on-road tires I've run. |
