Ok, as much as I want to do more, realistically my offroad is less than 1% of my onroad driving. That being said, It's about time to replace the stock POS tireson my '03 Rennie. What would you guys recomend for some good handling (on the road) replacements?
Upper East Coast here so 3-4 months a year gotta drive in snow, also lots of spring/fall rain. Plus the usual dry highway miles.
Oh, and I'd like to go a little larger without rubbing anything.

I'm buying revos in a few days at this place in Mass. they also have stores in CT. Might be worth the gas to save big..they have great deals on almost any tire..That is when you decide.. Have you scene the revos up close? they are a really nice tire. all the guys have them at the shops that I have gone into researching.they said they are just a great all around tire. Alot of them use them for plowing as well..great stree tire but enough agressivness for mild/moderate off roading..So i've read..Good luck heres a link to them..

Check out the toyo open country at's. Thats what I'm running just got them a few weeks ago. They were around $120.00 each installed and came highly recommended by my tire guy and a couple friends who run them on their plow trucks. I had 'em in some mud afew times and they pulled right through. I will post a review when we get our first big storm (usually a few feet on or before thanksgiving). Revo's are good but pricey.

I just replaced my on road tires with Firestone Destination A/Ts:

I've very satisfied with them! Nice look (not as good as my M/Ts :-p ), nice ride, and I got 5 installed, road hazzard, and all those other fees for $510, much cheaper than the Revos around here.

Don't go with Pirelli Scorpions- I replaced them because the bands were separating on two of my tires.

I second that about the Pirellis. The last set of Scorpions I had SUCKED and were impossible to balance. I bet the bands were seperating in mine too. I never thought of that at the time.

My mother (don't laugh) has the Firestone Destination ATs on her ZJ and they seem to be a great tire and you can get those for less than $100 each!

The chart should work for the tires you are looking at- if you go something extreme like Superswamper, the tread might throw you off a bit :-p

Rumor has it the largest you can go without mods is 245/70/r16. I've asked a few times to be certain and people have confirmed on here that there is no rubbing. I wanted to make sure myself before doing so.
Thats all you need is telling the wheel store to go up one size and then have them rub.Would not be good.. Ah ya,I know i told you to go up one size but they seem to be rubbing,can i go back to the oem size at no charge???hehhehhe..

A few people I know have been running Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armours. They say that they handle very well and can hold their own in the snow...
