It's not "all about the revos", it's just that most people use their KJ as a daily driver, which means they pick an A/T tire. It's inarguable that Revo's are one of the top 3 best-rated A/T tires on the market. Most people say it's only competition is the BFG AT KO. That's all about preference.
Which Maxxis tire where you talking about? If I'm not mistaken, one of (or the?) founder fathers of L.O.S.T. ran them on his "Sahara Edition" KJ. I think he had Buckshot Mudders. Maybe he'll chime in...

yea. wally talked me into gettin mine.. i already have maxxis tires. i just wondering if anyone runs the A/T's.. i got the 265 mudders..
