Post subject:  height vs. turning radius

Just curious as to some opinions:

At what point does increased tire height become counter productive due to increased turning radius? I know that around here, most of the trails are just that: trails through wooded areas. The KJ is highly manueverable, and I'd hate to lose that to gain 1/2" of ground clearance. Thoughts?

I might regret saying this in a few minutes when I think about this some more but...

Doesn't turning radius have more to do with wheelbase and wheel turning angle from your steering than tire diameter? Tru a smaller tire has to turn more rev's to make the full circle but how would the taller one make you have a larger turning radius. :?:

Well, I very well be saying this wrong. I know that at some point, the taller AND wider tire cannot make the same range of lateral motion that the stockers do. Increasing track width, to allow greater turn in of the tires, should help.

I wasn't giving you a hard time about the concept. The regretting part was typing that question in and overlooking something way obvious on my part. :BeerMugCheers:

I I didn't take it like you were giving me grief. I just wasn't real clear in my post. And I still may not be....

The bigger tire will cut down the turning radius a little because of rubbing on the front swaybar.

You mean "wider" not "bigger" will hit the sway bar. My 245/75's don't rub anything and therefor don't hurt my turning radius.
