OK Aussie's
I know that you all (Ya'll) have seen these things out on the trails
what do ya'll think?
Looking at the Jungle Trekers
I know that I can get swampers and the like but when I "revamp" the KJ in a year or so I want a completely different look
these tires would with out a doubt set it apart from the crowd ,NO ONE has them
I found a few places to import them and it will cost me ~$225 or so a tire or about the same as an MTR
but are they better and if so how much?
compared to a bias ply swamper better or worse on road? better or worse and by how much off road?

The KJ will be used for me to do all my "club stuff"
I am a member of 3 clubs and do a few different events which puts me running 50-150 miles one way to do things like trail work and stuff like that
The TJ is running bias ply swampers and as I have gotten older I do not want to drive for 2+ hours 1 way do work for 6+ hours and then drive home for 2+ hours in a TJ
Trail work tends to be easier on the rig than a trail ride so a well built KJ would do the trick and as long as I can get 25-30K miles out of the tires I will be more than happy but the main thing is that it is set apart from the crowd

Hey Jason,

Thats a cool looking tire and would sure be different.
If it doesn't work out, go for the Irok ND. Not many KJ's
running it, you can get it in a 245/75-16. It would certainly
stand out... and from the look of the Simex Jungle trekers
you are not worried about road noise.

Just a suggestion ONLY if the Simex doesn't work out (or you
want to save a lot of cha-ching!).

For what it is worth

You are wanting the JTs (Jungle Trekkers ? Have you looked at the Extreme Trekkers as well also know as centerpedes or pedes? Have read a bunch on them as being very noisey, wear very fast and very hard to keep from sliding on the wet roads, but dig to china if you let them.

You may want to contact John C. or Adrian S. who own 4X4 Adventure Gear in Colo. www.4X4ag.com they either have either them or can get them, one of them may have them on one of their rigs. They are not listed on their site so you will need to contact them direct.
A guy on Rubicon Owners Forum named axel has them on his so he may be able to help you find some as well
Also Keith Kreutzer in Colo. owns www.rovertracks.com which also maybe a source.
I had heard that they are or did come out with a radial tire all up to recently were bias ply

There is a "Rover guy" down here and while he is kind of a .....
any way he imports complete rovers in parts from over seas and puts them back together
He has them on his rig ,that sits in his shop and has 8 km on it, and they look sweet
The Extreme's just dont have the look of the JT's and they dont come in a 31 X 9.5 R16
which is only about .75" taller than a 245/75 MTR and the same section
I will still look at them as a place to get the tires

THEY ARE AWESOME!!!

Very good in the mud, much better than mtr's. Better ride as well. excellent treadwear, At current rate they should be time to replace at about 45-50K

I run the 265-75 and couldnt be happier. oh and so many people are like " what kind of tires are those?"

i know a few guys who run JT's on thier TJ's and love them

they are an agressive tyre

oh

and 220 each would be cheaper than you could get them downunder

Hood I didn't think anyone was running these tires.A green tire with a killer tread tread pattrern!!!!
There's no doubt these things can tear up some mud,but what do you think about the sidewall?
Have the walls held up good?And have you gotten down to the silicium granules yet? Guessing they help on wet surfaces.
Glad to see someone trying something different.

The walls have held up very good, however i've only aired down once, mainly just to do it. There are no rocks around here. But Rich at Green Diamond tire says they air down nicely and provide good traction on wet rocks. He runs them on his Land Rover Defender and a unimog, he lives in colorado so he is no stranger to rocks.

I have gotten down to the silicum carbide granules, and they seem to help some on wet roads, but I'd say about like any other mud tire with siping. If this tire had neither granules or siping it could be an issue with braking.

I have locked up these tires (once) on wet roads (also with MT/R's) since i do not have ABS, but have never been any where near losing control.

I have really been impressed with this tire, in all aspects, but I would be hesitant to run them on serious rocks being a load range D, but I know next to nothing about rocks.
