I have a crd Frankenlift II premium And i'm confused about wheel/tire combo's.

I'm not afraid of trimming and i don't mind pounding the pinch wield. And i like soft 8's.

I see a lot of people have 245/75/r16's on soft 8's.
And a lot of people are running 265/75/r16 on soft 8's

basically I want the tallest tire mtr/k or km2 that i can fit, and i don't mind adding another rear isolator or a few conduit nuts to the clevis.

What exact rim should i buy and what exact tire is the tallest i can fit?

And why is 245/75/r16 popular when you can run a 265? is width he only difference? (i am a tire idiot)

most stay with the 245-75 due to it being better on keeping power and mileage, go to 265-75s and you lose both, unless you regear.
If you think you want to go to 265s then soft 8s with 4 inch backspacing works best but still lots of trimming and make sure you have at least 3 inches of bumpstop in the rear and Teraflex bumpstops in the front

A-men rev. Mud, Three hocky pucks in rear and trim the hell out of the rear fender flairs!! Front, Teraflex bump stops and once again trim the hell out of the front inner fender well's from the fog lamp door down cut and remove, I installed thin rubber and mounted it with plastic push retainers and seam sealer to hold the rubber against the back of fog lamp assembly to make as much room for tires clearance as possiable!! Don't forget, on the front beat the pinch weld in and down and seam seal!!!

Down the road REGEAR 4.10!!!!!!!

Stick with a 7" rim for those 265's to get the maximum height. My 265/75's have branded into the sidewall to only mount on a 16x7 rim.

Much appreciated!

So for me 265's are OUT because the idea of loosing several inches of articulation, seriously makes me sad.

Witch leave me with 245/27/r16 on soft 8's? with what bs?

My quotes are:

Code:

                        265/75/r16  245/75/r16
Express Tire            179.00         229.00 On MTR-K (Kevlar)
Discount tire Co        237.00         210.00 mtr-k
                        209.00         203.00 km2
Costco                  208.00         202.00 km2 (includes mounting etc)

So I'm probably going to go with the mtr-k with discount tire.

I never lost any articulation when I went from 245/75's to 265/75's,I actually gained some when I went to the correct rin size and BS,and of course some trimming.4"-4.5" of BS with a 16x7 rim is what you want.

listen to him.. i just went to 16x7 with 4 in BS crager D windows and 265/75/16's and love this it.... little rubbing here and there but the extra height of the 265's really does make a difference.
