i want to replace the goodyear st's i have on my renny (lots of uneven wear, previous owner obviously didn't rotate & get regular alignments) & i was wondering if the BFG A/T's would be a good choice for me. i was also thinking of getting the goodyear sr-a's, i had them on my 04 renny which i bought new & had regular tire rotations & alignments for the 5 years i owned it & got over 103k miles on them (YES 103,000 MILES on 1 set of tires & still had some tredlife to go). i just happen to like the look of the BFG's better but are they a noticable upgrade? (they are more $$$ than the goodyears) also, should i go to a 70 series like my 04 had or stay with the 75 series that's on my 06 now? remember, i'm in florida so rain is as bad as the weather gets here. thanks all!!! |

You already had them and you know how they behave. For a mall-terrain, they are a fantastic tire. If you're not a serious off roader, ThunderbirdJunkie does not understand why you would NOT buy them? That being said You need a lift and some MT's:D |

The BFG's offer more off-road ability than the S/T or SR/A, but they are only an upgrade if you need an upgrade in that direction. If you do not off-road, you should buy a tire for how you actually use your jeep. With all of that rain in Florida, I am surprised you liked the SR/A's. They are probably the worst rain/ice street tire I have ever owned. But if you were happy with them, why wouldn't you get them again? |

If you won't be offroading and you live somewhere with a lot of rain I would not get the BFGs. The only complaint I have about them is they aren't great in the rain. I had them on my CJ5 and they seemed to like to float on wet TN streets. Otherwise they are fantastic, but they don't sound like what you are looking for or need. |

on what, straight highway tires? ITBJHO, the BFG AT is an outstanding street tire. Don't get what the problem is with wet traction... |

i had BFG AT's before my tires now and they were oustanding in all conditions except really soupy mud... and we get a ton of rain here in western PA.. and they were great in it. tread life is outstanding. |

I love the BFGs, the problems I had with the wet streets wasn't enough for me to not like them, they are great. The tire I was running before was an off brand AT. Not sure on the brand because it was when I was 16 and they weren't on my jeep long, but I specifically remember the difference of the BFGs tending to float on water more than the first set. |

BFG A/T's have extremely weak sidewalls,be aware.I went through 4 with sidewall rips,no rocks and no tree roots just soupy mud,and then went through 2 more BFG M/T's with the same problems and all in 200 miles.Scrapped the BFG's and went to Interco Boggers,then I found the MT/R and have never had such a great tire as the MT/R but wish finding a set of 35"s was easier. |

He doesn't need it Just saying the BFG Mall Terrains are fine for him. That being said, yes, there are tons of other tires that would better suit his KJ Like the Michelin LTX M/S Or the rehash of the Long Trail or the Kumho VictoRacer

Here's another vote the BFG AT KO's are not good for me on wet pavement. With little acceleration they spin from a dead stop and I've slid coming to a stop as well. I'm thinking these tires originally should have been siped. Otherwise I have no complaints. |

I love my BFG's. Great on the road, and great for the minimal amount of off-roading that I do. I've never had any problem with them in the rain. Go with 245-70-16 if you don't have a lift:

I have BFG's and love them. I have not had any problems with them in the rain. Mine are Load range E though and have been beat pretty good on some of the trails. I did have to swap out one due to some road debris...it was a peg board hook that made its home my tread, lol. Otherwise all is good with them. Do not think twice about getting them. I have put about....30k miles on them maybe and they are good. I do have some Pirelli Scorpion ATRs on my wife's Rav and they are a great tire too. My father in law has them on his F350 SD and beats the piss out of them and they are still doing great. Hope that helps. |
