on 06 gas. gonna get frankenlift 2. i am just a every other weekend offroader but of course want the frank anyway. whats a proper size wheel tire setup. im kindof noob i dont know bolt patterns/sizes or nuttin really. any advice appreciated!!!! thanks |

Well Im a relative noob myself, but I have been paying attention. Im going to do the Franky II for the CRD and then Im going to regear to 4.10 and add ARB air lockers. After all that Im going to run 235/85/16's. Essentially a 31.5" tire that's 9.2" wide. Tall (relatively speaking, as I have a truck sitting on 38.5 SX Swampers at home) and skinny. As I understand it much taller and you have to start trimming and other things. |

235/85s will cause a LOT of rubbing during stuffing, compared to 245/75s. ThunderbirdJunkie would stick with 245/75s personally, especially if you're going to add aftermarket wheels with less backspacing. |

I'm running 245/75/16's and They are awesome after figuring in my speedo difference of 5% I am still getting 17mpg around town and no power lost. |

Just go with a good 245/75. You lose most of your rubbing issues. The 235/85's would net you less than .5" in additional clearance but cause more issues. The 245/75's on stock rims work berry berry well |

I'd go with 245/75 on 16x7 with 4-5.5" backspacing. Bolt pattern is 5x4.5 |

Mostly running logging roads. you can fit 235/85 there is even someone on here that has that size but you will want aftermarket tires to prevent rubbing, but you will also get rubbing at full lock with the 245/75, which like everyone else is what I have and would recommend |

Are you talking about aftermarket wheels JS? I was looking at some Procomp 1069 16x8 with a 4" back spacing. I wonder what back spacing the stock wheels have? |

If your not doing alot of wheeling you won't have any need for a 10 ply tire so by going with a 245/75/16 you open up alot more options. the 235/85/16 is typically a commercial type tire |

16 X8 would be too wide for a 235-85-16 overall good wheel for that size or 265-75-16 would be a 16X7 with 4 inch of backspacing, fits in the fenders the best for the least amount of rubbing |

Well I was hopping to stay with the stock wheels that came with the truck. They should fit the 235 tire. Mostly I like it because it's semi tall and skinny!!!!!!! Reduced contact patch eqals better mileage. |

Yes I am, most go with 4" of BS with aftermarket wheels, OEM wheels are 5.5" |

Reduced contact patch eqals better mileage. JL Rockies runs 235/85's on OEM rims with no issues.Keep to a 16x7 rim with 4"-4.5" of BS for 245/75's and 265/75's,OEM rims are okay with 235/85's.
I keep away from mud so the bigger contact patch the better for me on the rocks.Can't what till I can mount my 35x13.50's. |

Moved to the correct section. As for the tires stick with a 7" rim with about 4" BS for the best results. An 8" rim will work on a 245 or above, but you increase the chances of blowing a bead if you air down. Most recommend 245/75/16's (30.5") because it requires the least trimming. If you step up to 32's (max you can go with the KJ's diff), either 235/85's or 265/75's like mine you need to trim up a lot in the front, and probably relocate your washer bottle too. But the extra size does pay off on the trail. |
