Well not really too new but I haven't posted any info on them since I got them. Wheels: 16x8 +25 Centerline Daggar 2pc. Polished Billet Tires: 255/65-16 General Grabber AT2 Tires: I'm very impressed with the tires. They have handled them self very well in a wide range of conditions. They handled water and deep mud very well and they cleaned off after all the mud very quickly with just a few yards of driving. They handled steep hill climbs very good and they were even pretty good in sand dunes. They are very quite on the road and the little road noise they do have is gone at 35+ mph. They are very sturdy on the highway at speeds of 70-80mph. Wet weather traction is very good. No hydroplaning or slipping in heavy rain. I don't have any rubbing issues BUT I do stuff the rear in the fender and it does rub on full flex. I don't have a lift so I'm sure once I get a lift that won't happen anymore. Here is a good shoot of them on a hill climb
Stuff @ full flex

Me too. They seem like the perfect balance of off-road capability and on-road manners for our family use. Of course, I'm going to wear out the stockers that came with the vehicle. I just can't bring myself to throw away new set of tires, even if they aren't that great. I'm wondering if I'll be able to use the 245/70R16 size without any spacing and still avoid rubbing. I think I've seen mixed reports about that, some saying no rubbing and others saying slight rubbing at full steering lock. I suppose if the 245/70R16's do end up rubbing, I could always add some small spacers after the fact. By the way, what is the stock wheel offset and backspacing? I've seen stock backspacing mentioned around here a couple of times, but can never seem to remember or find it (too many threads talk about "backspacing" to make a search very helpful). I don't think I've ever seen someone mention what the stock offset is. This is probably the first vehicle I've ever had where I've decided I want to put tires on that are something other than stock size, so caring about wheel dimensions is something new for me and they are still a little foreign. For example, I think it is really confusing that a negative back spacing actually means the hub sticks out more and has more material. Seems backwards to me. Oh well. -SR- |

Looks nice! Congratulations on having a pretty Jeep (that you're not afraid to get dirt on). You know, I have to say I wasn't too sold on the front end redesign on the new KK... if you'd asked me without seeing these pics, I'd have told you it was a fugly Jeep. But the same thing happened to me on the JK. I didn't like it at first, but then kept seeing them and realized finally that it still looked like a Jeep. I have to say, you have managed to change my thought on the newer Libertys. That is a nice looking Jeep! So I have to say 'thank you' for that! |

greatoppressor stock offset is +40. 245/70/16 should fit without rubbing, maybe some minor rubbing on full lock, nothing that can't be managed. But if you go up in tire size without having a lift you will lose the ability to get max flex when off-roading. |

Aren't you getting tired of my stupid questions yet? -SR- |

I was never really a fan of the Liberty when it first came out but when the new 08+ came out I was sold. Now that I own one the KJ is starting to grow on me a little. I'm not a big fan of them in their stock form but I have seen some very nicely modified ones and I like a lot of the options that are out for them. I just hope some of make their way over to the KK. greatoppressor wrote: Mike08Liberty wrote: greatoppressor stock offset is +40. 245/70/16 should fit without rubbing, maybe some minor rubbing on full lock, nothing that can't be managed. I was once again impressed by these tires. I went to go get fireworks from a TNT direct store (they have the good stuff). On my way there (2 hour drive) I got hit with hurricane like rain. It was a torrential down pour and visibility was about 50ft. The tires stuck to the road like glue. Even when passing a big rig with all the water they tread to the side the tires performed great! Once visibility got better and I was able to get up to highway speeds (70 mph) the tires didn't skip a beat. |
