Post subject:  i hate inspections.....

hey there everyone.... i am once again in the market for new tires. i do alot of highway driving so i am looking for an AT tire.

my current tires are the mastercraft courser at-2's.... however, i am looking for a more agressive tread pattern.

Anyone have any suggestions? i would love a MT.. but like i said i do alot of highway driving. the mastercrafts had only lasted me one year.... need new ones in order to pass inspection... their goes the money i saved for the OME lift:?

Any suggestions for a aggressive tire?

thanks

I have over 60K miles on my MT/Rs but they are only for the serious enthusiast.

This is a question that invites all sorts of opinions, and seems to invite 'lively discussion'... I will say I am north of you in Massachusetts, and have chosen to put Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires on both my Jeeps. It is not a great choice for off-road, but for the variety of conditions on-road in New England, they are hard to beat.
The tread pattern is slightly more aggressive than a standard AT, but not so much that the road noise goes up any. My TJ has over 40,000 miles on the Silent Armors and they still do not show any wear. Be forewarned, they aren't cheap, but they will go through NE potholes undamaged, and are solid footing in rain, sleet, snow and road-sand.
Take a look at them, see if that suits you.

I run KM2's, drive tons of highway, and am not a serious enthusiast haha. I do wheel, but am definitely not serious.

That photo is a year old haha. I haven't had the time or chance to get out and do that since. I don't quite get along with my local jeep club lol, so I don't bother trying to join in on the big trips anymore, just cause it pisses some folks off lol. And my wheeling buddy's are always too frigging busy.

I hate Walmart but they have a Goodyear tire called the Authority AT that looks good, have seen some good reviews so far on them, think of the tread as aggressive AT
On my KJ I have ran the
Firestone Destination AT good all around street tire did well in snow and ice and good mileage
Kumho KL78s also good riding tire, cheap and wore great did OK in snow/ice and some light mudding
Now have the BFG AT TAs also great tire but more $$$$ if bought new

In your area you need an aggresive AT not a true MT which will not do as well in snow and ice due to most not being siped[/img]

I was JUST there yesterday looking at those. I do kind of like them. But I really do not get along with GY tires. I hate them, is putting it lightly.

We don't have a good history. But I do like the "looks" of those tires.

If you are on a budget

Firestone Destination A/T's... Great on road tire / decent off road tire

Edit: they aren't listed in my sig, but I've been running these tires for a couple years now and they are still doing very well tread wise. I think so far I have about 25k miles on them.

ugh i hate emmsions..... lol..

another question, should i stick with 235/70/16 or go to 225/75/16? i have seen people use 245/75/16.. i would thinkk bout this, but my suspension is shot.. got to wait till the winter to save up for a lift.

thanks again everyone for your input

I just put 245/70/16 Toyo Open Country A/T on my '03. I was surprised because I didn't get any road noise.

I would never recommend mudding with Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires. Been there done that, had to be pulled out.
For you folks hatin' on Goodyear tires, as far as I'm concerned that attitude doesn't apply to their top of the line tires. My experience with these tires logging a bunch of miles with them has given me a lot of confidence in them on the road.
I don't suppose that you'd consider two sets of tires? A mud set to swap on for playtime, and a road set to use for daily driver? That would give you the best of both worlds (since it is both worlds).

primewell PA100

thats what I run, they are cheap, high mileage, and really aggressive, ask some of the ohio guys who have seen my rig.

I think MT's all the way. I figure, if you're going to get new tires, might as well be aggressive. You might not get as many miles in them, but they look awesome and perform well. Of course this could be a product of teenage aggression  .

I like my Revo's. They are a go anywhere do anything AT tire. Awesome all the way around. One thing they are not, however, is cheap.
